    Who will fill the void?

    Who will fill the void?

The harsh reality of the uneven playing field in Australian politics. Former minor party candidate Gerrie Hoogland joins us to discuss how the major parties maintain their grip, leaving little room for fair competition.

We deserve a government that fights exclusively for us. We don't have that, and we haven't had that for a long time. The major parties are not interested. Will anyone stand up to fill the void?

Ep.134: 2022 Federal Election Recap with Emma Dawson & David Feeney - Week 1 - 37 days to go

Dunn Street founder and Community Organiser Stephen Donnelly was joined by Executive Director for Per Capita, Emma Dawson, and former Federal Member for Batman, David Feeney, for Socially Democratic’s first of our weekly episode recaps of the 2022 federal election campaign.

Emma and David bring their expertise and insights into the discussion of the opening week of the 2022 campaign, analyzing how the Albanese Labor opposition set themselves up heading into this election from a policy standpoint and the critical voting blocks Labor are targeting.

Together, they also discuss the media’s coverage of the campaign so far, including the gotcha questions, and comparing the two campaign ads dropped by both Labor and the Liberals this week.

Socially Democratic’s coverage of the 2022 federal election continues next week when Emma and David return to the show every Friday through to May 21.

Christian Porter’s fall from grace and very angry France

Christian Porter’s fall from grace and very angry France

Christian Porter has resigned. He’s been dragged over the coals for something called a ‘blind trust’. We take you through exactly what that is and why Porter remaining in parliament as an MP is still a problem. We also look at why France is so mad at Australia over the US nuclear submarine deal and how that might impact us in the future.

Dunn Street founder Stephen Donnelly was joined by the National Assistant Secretary, Julia Fox from the SDA - the only Union that represents retail, fast food and warehouse workers.

Julia paints a bleak picture when discussing the impact covid, customer violence, gender inequality, delayed wage increases and sexual harassment has had on retail and fast food workers and what the SDA and its 210,000 members are doing to address it.
