It is Hump Day on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast. There is some sad news coming out of Denver. Ten people have been injured, including the shooter, after the Denver Nuggets won the NBA Championship Monday night. Thousands of fans were celebrating the first Denver NBA championship when shots were fired. Five people remain in the hospital. Shannon Sharpe said goodbye to the fans and the people he worked with on The Undisputed, as yesterday was his last day on the show. It turned out to be quite emotional. Anita Baker has dropped Babyface from her Songtress Tour. She stated that she has experienced cyber bullying and for her mental health and safety, she decided to have him off of the tour. Joseline Hernandez was arrested recently after a fight in Las Vegas. When she was arrested, her race was listed as white. Which is ironic because she got into a fight with Amber Rose for identifying as white. It is Wellness  Wednesday and Dr. MJ Collier is on with The RSMS Crew to talk about taking care of black men during Men’s Health Month. The one thing Dr. Collier said that if you do not have a primary care physician, you need to get one. Bakari Sellers joined The RSMS Crew to talk about what Donald Trump is accused of and what could happen to him. AND MUCH MORE FUNNY!!!

It is Tuesday on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast. For the first time in forty-seven years, the Denver Nuggets won the NBA Championship. The Nuggets beat the Miami Heat 94 - 89 in five games. Studies show that a little bit of alcohol can help with heart disease. It leads to long term reduction in stress signaling in the brain. Doctors also say that you should not ignore the other medical issues alcohol can cause. Anita Baker and Babyface’s fans were going back and forth on Twitter talking about their current tour. Baker is telling fans that it is not her fault that Babyface’s time on stage has gotten cut short, it is the venue and it is written in their contract that he is a special guest. Today, Rickey shared a message about self-awareness. He talked about people losing the art of being kind, respectful and courteous to others. The RSMS Crew discussed HBCUs and what we need to do to make them better. They are talking about this because last week six students from FAMU met with a federal judge to seek to sue the state of Florida for $1.3 Billion because the school is underfunded compared to other schools in the state. Jeff Johnson joined The RSMS crew to talk about Three Things We Need to Know about Father’s Day and Donald Trump being indicted. Tyler Perry is rumored to be in talks to close a deal that would make him the owner of BET and VH1. AND MUCH MORE FUNNY!!!

It’s Friday on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show. And we have to start off with some news. Elon Musk is stepping down from his position as CEO of Twitter. Young Thug has been hospitalized before court hearings due to unknown circumstances. His attorney has said that Young Thug had medical complications while at Cobb County Prison. With times changing, there are some schools that are removing Mother’s and Father’s Day from the school. The idea is to have all students included because there are more families changing. The RSMS Crew weighed in on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day being removed from schools to include all families. Babyface fans are mad at Anita Baker because he could not perform at the Prudential Center in New Jersey because she needed her time on stage. Rickey Smiley stood up for Anita Baker, saying that it is not her fault but the fault of the concert promoter. There were celebrities that came to the defense of Babyface. And since it is Friday, you know Battle of the Sexes goes down for some great Dollar Tree prizes. Don’t shoot the messenger is a metaphorical phrase for blaming the bearer of bad news. It’s easy to be angry with someone who is associated with information you don’t want to hear–say, a doctor delivering an unwelcome diagnosis, or a manager who has to fire you due to budget issues beyond her control. The phrase also points to a tendency we all have to overweight someone’s personality or disposition (that person who fired me is a jerk) and underweight the situation (sales were down this year, and they can’t afford current staffing levels).

In this episode of Choiceology with Katy Milkman, we look at this bias in a number of different contexts, and explore how it often leads us to make mistakes.

Allen Sarven, a.k.a Al Snow, is a man who has been viewed as both a villain and a hero. He spent many years as a professional wrestler in the WWE as a heel or bad guy. Wrestling fans would heap scorn on him, and cheer on his opponents. Of course, it was all an act and as you’ll hear, he is a three-dimensional human being who thinks deeply about the nature of storytelling in pro wrestling and beyond.

Recently, Sarven found himself being lauded by the media as a hero in a dramatic rescue in Florida. But he argues that anyone would have done the same thing if they were in his shoes.

Allen Sarven is currently the owner and CEO of Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville, Kentucky.

Next, Katy speaks with renowned social psychologist Richard Nisbett about how incomplete information can result in consequential errors. Nisbett argues that the fundamental attribution error gets us in trouble constantly. We often trust people we ought not to, or avoid people who really are perfectly nice, or we might hire people who are not all that competent, simply because we fail to recognize situational forces that may be affecting the person’s behavior.

Richard Nisbett is the Theodore M Newcomb Distinguished University Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Michigan. He’s also the author of many books, including Thinking: A Memoir.

Finally, Katy talks about the ways that fundamental attribution can affect businesses and even your investment strategy.
