Jeffery Williams - aka Young Thug - is one of American music's most decorated hip-hop performers. He's also in big trouble with the law, and is facing multiple gang, drug and weapons charges in his high-profile RICO trial in Atlanta.

Atlanta News First's Joy Lin Nakin and renowned Atlanta defense attorney J. Edward Shipp talk about what to expect in Young Thug's trial.

Jeffery Williams (aka Young Thug) is on trial in Atlanta in a massive RICO case involving himself and five other defendants. Prosecutors allege Williams and his co-defendants are members of the Young Slime Life (YSL) gang, while defense attorneys argue YSL is simply the name of a record label, Young Stoner Life.

In 2022, Fulton County prosecutors included lyrics from the rapper, referencing drugs and violence, as evidence of an “overt act in furtherance of a (gang) conspiracy.”

Here are the rap lyrics that will be admitted as evidence:

• “Come and enroll to the YSL school and I swear I am the principal (slime!). I do not care if you slime for a dollar and chance, it’s the principle.” — Jeffery “Young Thug” Williams

Das Jahr 2018 ist für Gunna aus Atlanta das bis dato wohl wichtigste seiner Karriere, denn der bis dahin nur bedingt erfolgreiche Sprössling aus Young Thugs YSL Label veröffentlicht im Februar 2018 sein drittes Mixtape in der Drip Season Reihe. Was folgt ist ein nahezu kometenhafter Aufstieg und am Ende des Jahres hat sich Gunna im Rapgame endgültig etabliert. Anfangs noch als Young Thug Kopie betrachtet hat er für DS3 seinen eigene Style gefunden und zieht diesen konsequent durch. Rückblickend handelt es sich hierbei um die Geburtsstunde des Gunnas der die Jahre danach so omnipräsent sein wird. Doch hat er seinen Style auch direkt beim ersten Versuch perfektioniert oder merkt man dem Mixtape sein Alter an?

It’s Friday on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show. And we have to start off with some news. Elon Musk is stepping down from his position as CEO of Twitter. Young Thug has been hospitalized before court hearings due to unknown circumstances. His attorney has said that Young Thug had medical complications while at Cobb County Prison. With times changing, there are some schools that are removing Mother’s and Father’s Day from the school. The idea is to have all students included because there are more families changing. The RSMS Crew weighed in on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day being removed from schools to include all families. Babyface fans are mad at Anita Baker because he could not perform at the Prudential Center in New Jersey because she needed her time on stage. Rickey Smiley stood up for Anita Baker, saying that it is not her fault but the fault of the concert promoter. There were celebrities that came to the defense of Babyface. And since it is Friday, you know Battle of the Sexes goes down for some great Dollar Tree prizes.
