Earlier this week, Kannada Actor Kichcha Sudeep officially gave the BJP his support ahead of the Karnataka elections on April 5. The Vikrant Rona star has appeared earlier with several political leaders. He even was clicked with Congress Karnataka chief DK Shivakumar. But never expressed his political views earlier - this is the first time he has been seen in the political arena. In a press conference conducted By CM Basavaraj Bommai, Kichcha Sudeep stated that he will campaign for the BJP but will not contest the elections.Sudeep said he would campaign for candidates who Bommai suggests. "I have friends and well-wishers in all parties. Bommai, who I fondly call 'mama', was one of those few people who stood by me during the initial days of my career... I will stand by him and support him. It's my duty," he told reporters. 

A few days ago, the Karnataka govt stripped the Muslim community in the state off 4% Backward Class quota in government jobs and education. On March 30, the government notified a decision taken by the cabinet to scrap the 4% backward classes quota for Muslims — they have been recognised as a backward class in Karnataka for more than 100 years — and to reallot the Muslim OBC quota to the two most dominant communities in the state, Lingayats and Vokkaligas. The changes in the reservation norms kicked up a major political storm in a poll-bound state. So much so that it also appeared in the meeting of 17 representatives of Muslim community with Home Minister Amit Shah. However, Amit Shah said that confusion is being spread and Pasmanda Muslims will continue to get reservation in Karnataka and clarification in such regard will soon be should by Law Ministry,

For years now, Tipu Sultan has become one of the key figures in Karnataka's political slugfest. Some call him a hero, a freedom fighter who fought british, some believe he was cruel, tyrant ruler and forcibly converted hindus and Christians in Islam. In the past elections, BJP leaders have been pushing the second narrative. Whereas Congress and JDS Leaders are opposing it by calling Tipu Sultan Freedom fighter. and the debate hasn't really seen any conclusion. The BJP has been claiming that it is Vokkaliga chieftains Uri and Nanjegowda who killed Tipu Sultan to liberate the masses from his tyrant regime, which is a complete contradiction to the historical evidence that Tipu Sultan was killed in a fight with British. Well, the story doesn't stop at the controversy or verbal attacks on opposition. Several BJP leaders supported this claim and a production house owned by a prominent vokkaliga BJP leader even announced to make a film on the two. But the plan to release this film has now been shelved. The BJP fell flat on its face After a prominent Vokkaliga seer warned the minister to not drag the community in a political slugfest and that the two characters didn't exist. कर्नाटक में मुजराई मंत्री शशिकला जोले ने शनिवार को कहा कि राज्य सरकार ने 18वीं शताब्दी के शासक टीपू सुल्तान के समय के मंदिरों में जारी सलाम आरती, सलाम मंगल आरती’ और ‘दीवतिगे सलाम’ जैसे रीति-रिवाजों का नाम बदलकर इन्हें स्थानीय नाम देने का फैसला किया है। हालांकि, उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि इन रीति-रिवाजों को बंद नहीं किया जाएगा। जोले ने कहा कि यह फैसला किया गया है कि दीवतिगे सलाम का नाम बदलकर दीवतिगे नमस्कार, सलाम आरती का नाम बदलकर आरती नमस्कार किया जाएगा।
