    Episode 304 - Threeaks

    Episode 304 - Threeaks

FRANK HENENLOTTER is a BASKET CASE

FRANK HENENLOTTER is a BASKET CASE

Frank Henenlotter’s films are hard to nail down.  They’re not conventional horror films so much as they are bizarre dramas featuring extreme (and often fantastical) physical deformity, addiction, sex, violence and bloodshed.  All filtered through a darkly comic lens.  In much the same way David Cronenberg’s films are not for everyone, the same could be said for Frank Henenlotter’s films.  But if you haven't seen his films, you're missing out.  Join me for a look at some of the most boldly original films of the horror and exploitation genre, and the man who made them.  Welcome to the sexy, violent, bloody and laugh-out-loud funny films of Frank Henenlotter.

    24. Basket Case (1982)

What time is it? It's basket time! We're back this week in the House of Horror as the boys crack open and take a peek into the cult classic film Basket Case.

Duane Bradley is taking his first trip to New York City. He's there to see the sights, the sounds and to exact revenge on the doctors who separated him from his conjoined twin brother Belial.  Belial is a grotesquely deformed creature that Duane carries around in a basket at all times. Now, working out of a small hotel room, the two plot their journey of vengeance that will take them across the city.

Frank Hennenlotter's Basket Case sprawls from ridiculous to violent, and always with a tinge of the absurd, leaving no doubt that the Fried Squirms would be down with it, but just how much of Belial's romance wrecking can they put up with?
