Stackhouse was a premier player from the time he was a sophomore in high school. He was the state player of the year for North Carolina in 1991–92, leading Kinston (N.C) High School to the state finals. Jerry Stackhouse played college basketball for the North Carolina Tarheels with Rasheed Wallace. Together they helped lead the Tar Heels to the NCAA Final Four in 1995. There were some who considered Stackhouse the top prep player to come out of NC since Michael Jordan.

Now Jerry is a basketball coach and former professional player who is the head coach of the Vanderbilt Commodores men's team. He played 18 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and was a two-time NBA All-Star. He formerly was the head coach of Raptors 905 and an assistant coach for the Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies. Additionally, he has worked as an NBA TV analyst.

According to headlines, Jerry Stackhouse is the SEC Co- Coach of the year. It was announced on March 6, 2023.

I think Stackhouse has always done well in his career. Whenever Stackhouse name came up, Michael Jordan’s name sometimes came up. When you’ve seen Stackhouse play on Carolina’s team, you just couldn’t help mentioning Jordan. He looked like the next Michael Jordan flying in the air Slam dunking the ball and shooting from long distance.

In an interview, Stackhouse revealed he wished he had never played with Jordan on the Washington Wizards. He said: It was really challenging to be able to be in a situation with an idol who at this particular point, I felt like I was a better player.”

Well Stackhouse was truly an outstanding player. To me, there was greatness also in himself though he played with Jordan. I’m Gail Nobles. Tune in next time for more EPS.

    2. Attorney Mike Hostilo: King of the Pivot

    2. Attorney Mike Hostilo: King of the Pivot

The 3RIPLE 3HREAT podcast is back with another season! And our first guest of this season is Mike Hostilo!

Mike moved to Beaufort, South Carolina in the 7th grade. Mike's dad is a marine and Mike grew up in Laurel Bay Military Housing.

"In military communities, it was really important for the parents and the kids to be involved in youth sports."  Just like us, you've probably seen commercials for the Mike Hostilo Law Firm around town. But did you know, Mike was a student-athlete in high school.  Attorney Mike Hostilo is an excellent example of a former student-athlete pivoting into an extremely successful career off the field.

The PIVOT is a power position in basketball. If you're in the pivot, you're in the 3RIPLE 3HREAT. You have three choices: pass, dribble or shoot. In basketball, you have seconds to make this position. In life, you have a little more time to come to a decision.

Most middle and high school student-athletes do not go on to become professional athletes. Listen to Mike Hostilo's story to learn when he pivoted from athletic dreams to professional dreams and how he utilized the skills he learned on the field to grow a successful law firm.
In 2022, the 3RIPLE 3HREAT podcast is going in a different direction with a focus on psychology. For example, this year we will have guests on the podcast discussing mental health when it comes to the student-athlete. With professional athletes like Simone Biles and Naomi Osaka opening up about their mental health struggles, it’s time we bring this issue down to the middle and high school levels.

Tune into the 3RIPLE 3HREAT podcast to hear about The Ultimate Student-Athlete Experience: stories about student-athletes, for student-athletes and by student-athletes!

Our DAE Foundation message is to bring quality information to student-athletes, parents of student-athletes and the community that supports them both. 17. Earl Brown - High School Coach

    17. Earl Brown - High School Coach

When Jermel learned he would be interviewing Earl Brown his first words were "Burke Basketball." He would watch the news and hear family and friends talk about Burke Basketball and Earl B.

Growing up downtown, everyone dreamed of playing for this icon. Jermel was fortunate enough to experience what it was like to be in the mix.

Every player looks for that coach that carries themselves with confidence and holds a high level of respect from their community.

Earl B also pulled the grit and tenacity out of every player IF you had it in you. This created a transferable skill that’s applied to Jermel's life right now. The will to FIGHT and WIN.

Jermel appreciated the tough love as it made him a soldier!
