Canadian legendary musician and singer/songwriter, Andy Kim, who is known for co-writing the massive number one hit for the Archies, “Sugar, Sugar” in 1969 and “Rock Me Gently” that soared to number one on the billboard pop charts back in the fall of 1974, was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in Calgary on October 27th along with the late Bobby Curtola, Cowboy Junkies and Chilliwack.

BEACH CORNER with Dianna Chycki - Oct 22.19 - Repeat Interview with BOBBY CURTOLA

This week's BEACH CORNER we feature Dianna's phone interview, originally broadcast in 2016, with Bobby Curtola. Bobby passed away in 2016.

Bobby will be inducted (posthumously) into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame on October 27th at the Calgary’s Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre along side of Cowboy Junkies, Andy Kim and Chilliwack.

Bobby was such a great man and so positive. During our conversation he mentioned how "dreams do come true and you are never too old". He is truly missed!

We are sure he would be humbled and thrilled with his latest induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Special thanks go to Sandy Graham from Cashbox Canada for making this interview possible. More information can be found at bobbycurtola.com and canadianmusichalloffame.ca

BEACH CORNER with Dianna Chycki - Sept 24.19 - STEVE STRONGMAN

BEACH CORNER with Dianna Chycki - Sept 24.19 - STEVE STRONGMAN

The 9th Annual Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues welcomed award winning Canadian bluesman, Steve Strongman. Steve rocked the Main Stage 2 on Saturday night.
In 2019 he captured “Best Guitarist” for The Solo Duo Category at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee as well as a 2018 JUNO Award Nomination for Blues Album of the Year for “No Time Like Now”.
Recently he launched his 7th album in June titled “Tired of Talkin’” and performed a guitar duet with Randy Bachman on the Bachman Turner Overdrive Classic “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”.
Unfortunately due to Steve Strongman’s busy schedule Dianna wasn’t able to meet him for a face-to-face interview at the blues fest. Having said that, I thought I would share a repeat Beach Corner interview back in 2013 where he performed at the Collingwood Historic Gayety Theatre.

BEACH CORNER with Dianna Chycki - September 03.19 - BONDS OF MARA

BEACH CORNER with Dianna Chycki - September 03.19 - BONDS OF MARA

Bonds of Mara marked their last show by headlining at the 7th Annual Georgian Triangle Music Festival at the Wasaga Beach RecPlex on August 24th.
This super group consists of current and former members of some notable multi-platinum selling acts led by ex-I Mother Earth singer, Brian Byrne; Sal Costa, guitar/back-up vocal; Dave Benedict, bass and Daryl Ralph, drums.
Together they create the best of both-world by merging experience with fresh enthusiasm and raw urgency, a new force to be reckoned with.
As for the meaning of the name, Mara, the demon who tempted the Buddha, is associated with death, rebirth, and desire. Broadly speaking, Mara is anti-enlightenment, working to keep seekers from pushing forward. To break the “bonds of Mara” requires focus and determination.
Dianna caught up with Bonds of Mara prior to their performance at the Georgian Triangle Music Festival where they share their camaraderie and passion for music. For the latest on the band visit @BondsofMara on social media.
