    7. How to Adopt a Growth Mindset and Stay Ten Steps Ahead

    7. How to Adopt a Growth Mindset and Stay Ten Steps Ahead

The ups and downs of entrepreneurship are too much for some people to handle. We'll hit bumps in the road, income fluctuations that hurt to get through, and opportunities that are missed by the skin of our teeth. And if we look at those things as an unredeemable failure, we'll accept defeat and quit.

But I don't want that for you!

On todays episode, i'm talking all about growth mindsets. What is a growth mindset? Why should you adopt a growth mindset? And how do we stick to a growth mindset?

I look at my growth mindset like a muscle. Sometimes, it feels weak and sore. Especially at the beginning. Those old patterns will sneak in and convince me that it's time to throw in the towel. But the longer I stick with it, the stronger that muscle gets.

By the end of this episode, I want you to feel empowered to shift your mindset and commit to constantly learning!

    6. Being Empathic Without Compromising your Sense of Self Behind the Chair

As stylists, our clients can come to us with a whole range of energy. You might be feeling like you're running on empty by the end of the day. As an empath, I know i've often felt that way.

Without some safe guards in place, it's so easy for me to take on other peoples problems as my own. I don't want you to go through the mental, physical, and spiritual exhaustion that comes with a lack of emotional boundaries.

So in todays episode, i'm sharing the healing modalities that have supported me through this career as an empath. We'll be touching on the importance of recharging and exactly how I suggest doing that. But I also want you to walk away from this episode with a clear understanding of what you can do before going in to work to protect yourself from an onslaught of emotions that don't belong to you.

    5. Pushing through the Fear and Stepping out of Stagnancy

Have you ever reached a cross roads in your business where the choice was - continue down this path and quickly burn out completely or make the scary choice for your own happiness?

    I definitely have.

After many years of building up my clientele as a hair stylist, I made the big pivot to specializing in hair extensions. It was extremely hard for me to say goodbye to clients I had worked with for years and I didn't know if I was making the right decision. But I knew that if I stayed, I would sit in stagnation and become bitter and burnt out.

I hope this episode springs you into action. If you need a little loving encouragement in order to make that scary choice that has been bouncing around your head, here it is!

As entrepreneurs, moms, hair stylists, whatever it may be - we all need a little push sometimes.

Black Girl Sunscreen: The Importance Of Sunscreen For People Of Color, with Founder Shontay Lundy

Hi everyone. I hope you're keeping safe, healthy, and hanging in there. Sending love your way and my thoughts are with you.

    -----

This week's Hello Beauty guest is Shontay Lundy. As a woman of the sun coming from Miami, she was inspired to create Black Girl Sunscreen. Black Girl Sunscreen was designed to start the conversation around sun safety and education. It is great for everyday use and is filled with natural ingredients.

We discuss why people of color should wear sunscreen. People of all colors can still get skin cancer even if they don't burn at times. Wearing sunscreen is a preventative measure. People of color are still susceptible to sun damage like hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and cancer. Shontay talks about the reasons why people of color don't wear sunscreen and the myth around wearing SPF.

We learn about her entrepreneurial tips on how to start a business with little to no capital. The number one secret is one's work ethic and she also shares the exciting plans coming her way.
