Episode 65: Write a Kick A** Grant w/ Rachael Porter

Episode 65: Write a Kick A** Grant w/ Rachael Porter

Before I joined the autism services field (in 2012), I spent 6+ years in outdoor education non-profits, including starting and growing my own non-profit, Sierra Nevada Journeys, from 2006-2012. I had to learn the hard way about grants and fundraising and I wished I had a guide like Rachael. Rachael comes from the IDD/ABA world and her specialty (in addition to leading operations) is grant-writing ... including finding grants that for-profit providers can apply for (candidly, I didn't even know that was a thing before I met Rachael). Rachael was so helpful that I actually worked with her on a grant for Ascend Behavior Partners (my ABA organization). Great tips and tricks to up your grantwriting game. Enjoy, kind listener!

Relationships 101 - Pt 1 The Anxious Attachment Pattern

Relationships 101 - Pt 1 The Anxious Attachment Pattern

Our earliest life experiences imprinted us with much of our relational wiring.  Anxious attachment is an insecure attachment style that develops when a child's needs are not met consistently and in turn, they may feel unworthy of love; and as they enter into adult relationships, they may exhibit high levels of insecurity and emotional neediness. The good news is that if this describes you, you can understand the "whys" behind this attachment pattern and some basic strategies for shifting these behaviors into more regulated actions that will lead to healthier interactions. Interested?  Great! Then listen in to this episode.

    Understanding ACEs & Unresolved Trauma

    Understanding ACEs & Unresolved Trauma

This episode gives us a glimpse  some major risk factors that contribute to trauma. The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study is an amazing resource for digging deeper into why the trauma we are carrying in our present still affects us even though it happened in our distant pasts. Many of the experiences that still wreak mental and emotional havoc in our lives happened in our earliest life experiences. When we understand more about what affects us and why, we are more equipped to press into our healing and learn to live our best lives despite the worst of circumstances that affected us early on.  This episode is a great educational tool for moving toward stronger mental health. Happy listening!

    It's the Love for Me!

    It's the Love for Me!

Traumatic and painful experiences that occur over the course of our lives can make us feel unloved and unworthy of receiving love. This episode is a reminder of what truly is our greatest need for healing...LOVE! And there is no greater love than the unconditional, unrelenting love of God.
When it's all said and done...love really is what the world needs now to cure what spiritually and emotionally ails us. Throughout my own healing journey that continues every day, I've realized...it's the LOVE for me. What about you?

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, there has been a 2600% increase in use of telemedicine, resulting in 34.5 million visits. According to a technical brief from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, there is sufficient evidence to support the effectiveness of telehealth for specific uses with some types of patients, including psychotherapy and other behavioral health specialties. With those types of stats, many providers have had to make adjustments to ensure they are delivering the same standard of care as an office visit.  Tune in as the Director of Program Development-Behavioral Health for Alliant Health Solutions,  Lynn Bradford, Ph.D., shares insight about  the benefits and challenges of using telemedicine specifically for behavioral health services.
