Cortisol: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
    Wait, can cortisol be good?....YES

Join us for an informative and valuable talk about CORTISOL. Cortisol is a hormone produced by your adrenal glands. "But what does it do?" you may ask and why should I care about?
Cortisol is your get up and go hormone, but in recent years, it's gotten a bad rap as mainstream media has talked about 'adrenal fatigues'. We're here to set the record straight on:

    • What corisol does
    • What happens if you're always in "fight or flight" mode
    • What happens if your cortisol is too low
    • Warning signs of too much (and too little) cortisol

Hormonal Changes: The Impact of Perimenopause and Menopause on Your Body

Hormonal change is a popular topic among peri-menopausal and menopausal women. Many of us were far less prepared for these changes than we were for the 'younger sister' of hormonal changes - puberty. But in truth, these phases of life, bookending our reproductive years, share a lot of similarities.

Join us for this informative episode as we guide you through these challenging times. We explain which hormones are affected and how, AND how these changes affect your mood, and physical and mental health. Note: There are far more signs and symptoms of menopause than your OB/Gyn may be telling you about.

See below, the time stamps for some of our main topics.

00:02:51 Menopause experiences vary greatly between women.
00:04:20 Hormonal changes cause mood swings, libido loss.
00:07:06 Progesterone nurtures, estrogen strengthens in hormone replacement.
00:12:35 Joke: tampons, hamster pillow, menopause symptoms.
00:14:28 Osteoporosis: Concern for bone health, common fractures.
    00:19:17 "I love time cushioning and self-care."
00:22:47 Whole Foods diet supports and nourishes you
00:25:08 Speak to doctor about bioidentical hormone replacement.

Core Work Benefits: Posture, Confidence, and Beyond!

Core Work Benefits: Posture, Confidence, and Beyond!

1, and 2, and 3, and 4...did you ever count like that when you did sit-ups?  I did and I can tell you  that not only was it NOT fun, but  it was not effective. What we know now, is that your core is NOT just your 6-pack muscles. The core encompasses a whole collection of muscles surrounding...well, your CORE. These include big muscles of the back, those along the spine, as well as the abdominal muscles and 'corset' muscles that run down the sides of your midsection.
WHY is it important to have a STRONG CORE?

    • Your core muscles help your posture
    • They help you perform daily activities such as vacuuming and carrying groceries
    • Core muscles allow you to rise from a reclined or sitting position with ease
    • Strong core muscles give you CONFIDENCE

So if your gym class sit-ups are ineffective, how exactly do we strengthen our core?

In this episode of the Midlife Mommas we talk about ALL things CORE, including our favorite core strengthening movements.

Having a strong core helps to ensure longevity, and that's what we're about at the Midlife Mommas!

Is this Sabotaging Your Health? Sugar & the "Bliss Point" of Food:

What is the "Bliss Point"? It sounds awesome, doesn't it? How can something described as blissful be so sinister?

You will be shocked to know that food manufacturers have spent millions of dollars to discover the exact proportions of sugar, fat and salt to hook you like a big fish. The bliss point is the exact point at which you eat one bite and then a million more. Gone are the days of food that is satisfying and wholesome. Welcome to the days of manipulation, obesity and BIG money.

It is sad that the American food system has come to this. If it comes in a package, you  are assured to find an ingredient ending in -ose, which is a synonym for SUGAR. It's hidden in everything as: dextrose, maltose, fructose, glucose, malt syrup and corn syrup. You MUST read labels.

This episode isn't all negativity. In addition to giving you the "skinny" on sugar, we also give you tips on how to overcome this addiction. That's right; I said addiction. This isn't about willpower. It's about overcoming the Bliss Point that has been engineered to make you crave MORE.
