Doctor Who Rewatch | The Sontaran Stratagem/ Poison Sky

Doctor Who Rewatch | The Sontaran Stratagem/ Poison Sky

    Sontar-ha!

This week, the leaders of the Sontar to Sontar battle fleet join us to introduce this episode...before failing miserably at it. Something to do with chocolate perhaps?

As you may have guessed, this episode looks back at the Tenth Doctor two parter The Sontaran Stratagem and The Poison Sky.

We recently ran a poll which listed some of our favourite Tenth Doctor episodes and the winning vote would be rewatched and discussed by us, and our listeners via comments.

However, we sacked off this poll once the sad news of Bernard Cribbins passing reached us and we used our powers as executive producers to pick these episodes to be the rewatched ones, so we could, in our own little way, pay tribute to the great Mr Cribbins.

So, join us as we tackle this earthbound epic which features the revived series' first appearance of our potato-headed favourites, brings Martha back to the show for the first time since...um...the last series ended actually, returns UNIT to our screens and gives us some great Donna and Wilf moments.

    Let's go!

Oh! And stay tuned for another Sontaran appearance at the end of the episode…!

    021 - Soundtracks and Second-Last Tracks

    021 - Soundtracks and Second-Last Tracks

Big thanks to our podcast listeners in this episode, who made suggestions for the best film soundtrack albums ever, and helped us with the question “Is the second-last track on an album the weakest?” No spoilers here: for the answer, and to see if you got a mention, you’ll have to listen in! You’ll also discover ElTele’s “campest film theme of all time”.

Popular culture lost so many stars this month: we say goodbye to Olivia Newton John, Bernard Cribbins, Raymond Briggs, David Warner, Nichelle Nichols, Darryl Hunt of the Pogues and ace Motown tunesmith Lamont Dozier (see a playlist of his tunes below).

The Captain finishes off the final Inspector Montalbano novel, tells the odd tale of its publication, and also gives a positive mention to British crime drama Sherwood, chock full of acting talent. ElTele has discovered Along for the Ride, with comedian David O’Doherty.

Doctor Who Rewatch | Peter Cushing Dr Who Movies

Doctor Who Rewatch | Peter Cushing Dr Who Movies

Grab your lava lamps and journey back in time to the 1960s with Paul, Geoff and our special host Dr Who as we review the big screen adventures of Peter Cushing as BBC TV's Doctor Who in Dr Who and the Daleks and its cinematic sequel Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. both recently re-released in glorious 4k.

Join us on a THRILLING space adventure as Dr Who and his grandaughters, Barbara and Susan and the bumbling Ian Chesterton take a trip in Tardis to a mysterious petrified forest on a creepy alien world!

Then join the RESISTANCE as Dr Who, Louise, Susan and PC Tom Campbell (Bernard Cribbins) battle Daleks in the streets of future London with SPECTACULAR Dalek explosions and a flying saucer!

Finally, looking for the views of Gen-Z fans new to the films, we dragged angsty teen Freya away from her mobile phone to add her opinions to the discussion.

This week, I'm joined by Sage Young (http://www.themomentpod.com/guests/sage-young), to discuss a moment from 2010’s The End of Time, Part 2, the final episode of David Tennant's run as the Tenth Doctor. We discuss the Doctor's enduring love of humanity, the way that Tennant portrays the Tenth Doctor's emotional life, and why Wilfred Mott is the perfect companion for the Doctor at this point in his life. You can follow Sage on Twitter at @sageyoungest (http://twitter.com/sageyoungest). Special Guest: Sage Young.

This week, I'm joined by Lewis C (http://www.themomentpod.com/guests/lewis-c), to explore a world without the Doctor in 2008's Turn Left, and the rare moment of real, human horror in that story. The main topic is how human beings can be pushed to the worst kind of cruelty, but there's some fun stuff too. You can follow Lewis on Twitter at @floatoneast (http://twitter.com/floatoneast). Special Guest: Lewis C.
