The Bible has been translated into different languages throughout history... but how did we end up with many different English translations and how do we know which one to read?

In this episode, we describe the different English Bible translations, as well as discuss how Providence chose the ESV Bible to preach from each Sunday and which translations would be helpful for personal study.

You didn't ask for it - but here it is:  an interview with a real live member of the board of lutheran Bible translators Canada. Let's find out exactly how far this distribution of the Word of God is willing to go... and who's up for the challenge... and how? With an In-law who just might be an Outlaw in her own heart: Pauline Huth (My Mother in-law).
Sure, it looks good on paper - but let's see how this has reached people in Africa. And how the work of William Tyndale and Martin Luther has carried on throughout the centuries.

The King James Version of the Bible is one of the oldest English translations of the Bible, but does that mean it should be the only version we read? Is it the most reliable or accurate translation?

Is there an actual hell that burns and tortures people for all eternity?

When we die, do we go straight to Heaven, or do we have a waiting period? What’s the process when we die? 2 Corinthians 5:8

Henry begins this session with a review of the parable of the Sower and the meaning of “The Word”.   He then goes on with the parable of the Lamp and explores the puzzle of “more will be given” and “more will be taken away”.   The next parable studied is the seed growing into a plant.  This opens into Christian growth and what it means to become "perfect".  The final parable of this session is of the Mustard Seed.   Henry then discusses the best translations of the New Testament and their historical implications.  In this context, translating the word “servant” or “slave” is considered.  The session concludes with the miracle of the calming of the storm and the multiple meanings of the word “faith”.
