    Whiskey Review: Pure Kentucky XO

    Whiskey Review: Pure Kentucky XO
    Tasting Notes:
This 107 proof "XO" bourbon is truly "pure Kentucky," distilled, aged, and bottled by Willett at 107 proof. Tell us 107 and we're ALL IN! Pure Kentucky is a blend of 72/13/15 Corn/Rye/Malted Barley & 52/38/10 Corn/Rye/Malted Barley. The mix creates a soft and spicy malt forward bourbon with biscuit and bread on the nose. On the palate, the spice kicks up but a malty backbone persists throughout.

Whiskey Review: Wild Turkey Master's Keep Voyage

Whiskey Review: Wild Turkey Master's Keep Voyage
    Tasting Notes:
Since Campari owns Wild Turkey AND Appleton Jamaican rum it was only a matter of time before this collaboration was born. Wild Turkey Master's Keep Voyage is comprised of 10yr Kentucky Straight bourbon finished in Kentucky for an undisclosed amount of time in ex-14-year-old Jamaican pot still rum casks. Bourbon finished in rum cask has been around for a while but this is by far the highest profile brand and highest price point to attempt it. On the nose, a perfect blend of pot still fruit and Kentucky oak spice. There's a vanilla potpourri aroma with candied orange and caramel as well. On the palate, the 106-proof 10-year-old spirit is a perfect balance of Kentucky oak and soft tropical fruit. Molten chocolate cake and more spice set up the long finish. The pot still rum is there the whole time but it never manages to take over or destroy the CORE Wild Turkey spice and oak-driven experience. Fantastic blending all the way around!

Whiskey Review: Whistlepig Piggyback Single Barrel

Whiskey Review: Whistlepig Piggyback Single Barrel
    Tasting Notes
DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH ALERT...this new Bourbon World selection of Whistlepig Piggyback 100% rye bottled at 112.7 proof, distilled in Vermont and aged 6 years is a KNOCKOUT! Oily peppermint and graham cracker on the nose, fresh cut oak, grassy rye and a huge spice KICK! Load this thing up with ice and let it mellow down. I had it as an Old Fashioned and loved every spicy minute of that drink! Finally a spice level that rivals MGP''s 95/5 rye.

Whiskey Review: Bulleit Single Barrel Preview

Whiskey Review: Bulleit Single Barrel Preview

This spring we picked two delicious Bulliet single barrels. Bourbon World High Rye which is the "B" mashbill of 36% rye and the "1" yeast feautring a rich tropical fruit and leather profile. Given a 10-12yr age range for this one with only a 7 case yield. We also selected a Bourbon World "Fruit Bomb" with utilizes the "E" or 21% rye mashbill and the Number "2" yeast which gives the spirit a fruity aroma and creamy texture. This is the the 8-10 yr range. Since these are both much OLDER barrels than what the current Bulleit facility has been operating you can bet these are older MGP barrels. They are bottled at 104 proof, perfect for the mash and yeasts used. These are definitely higher quality single barrels than the current profile of the program itself, so take advantage a grab a few. They'll be incredible daily drinkers.

Vodka Review: Blue Ice Idaho Potato Vodka

Vodka Review: Blue Ice Idaho Potato Vodka

It's not often a new regular vodka comes along and impresses us this much, but Blue Ice potato vodka from Idaho has done it. Sure, we could brag on the snake river aquifer where the water is sourced from or the Russet Burbank potatoes so carefully distilled, but really at the end of the day it's the incredible mouthfeel of this vodka that's the real showstopper. Big soft, pillowy, and rich from start to finish. Sure it's a neutral spirit, but the depth, weight, and length are there in spades. We love Tito's and Goose as much as the next guy, but this Blue Ice is simply too delicious not to try (by the bottle!) 👏🥔 Our Favorite Vodka in Years!

Their goal Is to provide a platform and group for like-minded people who enjoy spirits and cigars. Along with exposing people to spaces and environments that they may not have been to before. Episode 84: Virtual Tasting With Andy Erickson, Winemaker at Leviathan

In this episode, Jill talks to the winemaker at Leviathan, Andy Erickson. Leviathan was founded in 2004 by winemaker Andy Erickson, former winemaker of Screaming Eagle Winery. The goal was simple: to create one, unique red wine, drawn from some of the best vineyards in Northern California. The resulting bottling, was born of a passion for blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, to create a full bodied wine with a character all of its own. Since then, we have remained true to our goal of producing a rich, distinctly Californian red blend, year after year.
