Whiskey Review: Nulu Toasted Single Barrel

Whiskey Review: Nulu Toasted Single Barrel
    Tasting Notes:
Was $89.99, NOW $69.99. From our 2023 archives, don't sleep on this NULU toasted barrel. Many have tried toasted barrel finishes in the past several year, but Nulu's are some of the best, and this EXCEPTIONAL cask proves it all day long. Sweet coconut and along on the nose with marshmallow, shortbread, banana, and pear juice. On the palate, major toast coming through, sweet burnt marshmallow followed by oak, leather, and spice.

Whiskey Review: Jefferson's Reserve Single Barrel #586

Whiskey Review: Jefferson's Reserve Single Barrel #586
    Tasting Notes:
On SALE for $59.99, this single barrel of Jefferson's Reserve is as soft and fruity as they come. Soft leather, tropical fruit, and butterscotch define the nose. On the palate, a perfectly sweet romp through vanilla, caramel, and more butterscotch. It's 100 proof but drinks so much softer and sweeter. Take advantage of the price and be on the look out for Barrel #586!

John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)/Blantons Straight from the Barrel

John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)/Blantons Straight from the Barrel
We've arrived at the end of our journey. The final film in the John WIck franchise. (or is it?). Matt and I discuss the all great and wonderful John WIck chapter 4 from earlier this year. We also end our tasting of the Blantons bourbon lineup with one I've been anticipating for a long time. The uncut and unfiltered Blantons Straight from the Barrel. Proofs vary but the one we tasted on this episode comes out at 125.1 proof. Since the movies crescendoed to a gret climax I figured the whiskey oughta do the same.

Whiskey Review: Whistlepig Piggyback Single Barrel

Whiskey Review: Whistlepig Piggyback Single Barrel
    Tasting Notes
DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH ALERT...this new Bourbon World selection of Whistlepig Piggyback 100% rye bottled at 112.7 proof, distilled in Vermont and aged 6 years is a KNOCKOUT! Oily peppermint and graham cracker on the nose, fresh cut oak, grassy rye and a huge spice KICK! Load this thing up with ice and let it mellow down. I had it as an Old Fashioned and loved every spicy minute of that drink! Finally a spice level that rivals MGP''s 95/5 rye.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)/Bookers 2023-01 "Charlies Batch" & Jim Beam Single Barrel

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)/Bookers 2023-01 "Charlies Batch" & Jim Beam Single Barrel
Matt and I try out one of the newest batches of Bookers bourbon as well as a recent daily sipper of mine, Jim Beam single barrel. We end up busting out the knob creek to compare with the Jim Beam SB and Bookers. We discuss the movie event of the year that's dropping this weekend, the strike, and finally a long conversation on the latest Indiana Jones film.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991)/ Jack Daniels Bonded, Single Barrel Barrel Proof and Single Barrel Rye

Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991)/ Jack Daniels Bonded, Single Barrel Barrel Proof and Single Barrel Rye
This week Matt and i discuss one of the greatest achievemnts in american cinema "Termiator 2: Judgement Day"

We taste of lineup of 3 Jack Daniels expressions. The Bonded which was released last year and voted as one of the best new whiskies of the year as well as the single barrel rye and single barrel barrel proof. Bother single barrels were old bottles from 2021.

Whiskey Review: Hirsch Single Barrel Double Oak

Whiskey Review: Hirsch Single Barrel Double Oak
    Tasting Notes:
This single barrel is a combo of an 8yr 7month Willett bourbon with a 3yr 7 month 1792 bourbon bottled at 127.5 proof. How do we know...just look up the mashbills. They are unique to these distilleries only and they are listed on the label. It also says "distilled in Bardstown" which is technically true of both Willett and 1792. So, how's the juice? Incredible. Another win for Hirsh. Brown sugar and leather arm chair, green and red fruit, oak and a blast of toffee. On the palate 1792 oak bomb with the gentle baseball glove leather of an old Willett. Hall of Fame

Whiskey Review: Caribou Crossing "BRL" Single Barrel 2023

Whiskey Review: Caribou Crossing "BRL" Single Barrel 2023
    Tasting Notes:
As mysterious as a snow-bound yeti and as dazzling as the northern lights, comes Sazerac's single-barrel Canadian Whiskey...Caribou Crossing, is a playful twist on "Buffalo Trace" with the silly sculpted animal on top to match. What's the real story though? This is an 80-proof Canadian whisky single barrel with no age statement (other than for legal purposes 3 yr. requirement) with no known origin distillery. It's truly one of the LEAST transparent and most popular products on the market. Why? Because Sazerac fanatics love the Buffalo Trace connection, but when they actually TASTE a Canadian whiskey for the first time, they kind of love it. And what's not to love? Canadian whisky is good. Really good. It's usually lighter than bourbon, smoother than bourbon, and generally lower proof, which makes the complexity more subtle, and oftentimes more pleasurable. This particular single barrel 167 presents fresh-cut oak, vanilla bean ice cream, and butterscotch on the nose. On the palate a creamy vanilla and citrus pairing, crème brulee, then a touch of spice. It's a refined sipper, with a unique profile, and an exceptionally smooth finish.

Whiskey Review: Off Hours Barrel #59 Single Barrel

Whiskey Review: Off Hours Barrel #59 Single Barrel
In this episode, Matt tastes Off Hours Barrel #59 Single Barrel.

    Tasting Notes
A cask strength bourbon at 105.4 proof is almost unheard of. I've only seen a few Wild Turkey single barrels lower, which likely means a LOW ageing floor at MGP where it's colder. On the nose this is light and nutty, but on the palate, this may be one of the smoothest drinking single barrels we've ever released. Delicious mint, light oak, and perfectly portioned sweet fruit throughout, even a touch of passionfruit. Really surprisingly delicious.
