Since the start of the pandemic, our communities have been the most vilified race in America. We are here to show that brighter side, and let the world know that there are leaders and change-makers among us!

    This Wednesday, we highlight another community leader, Sean Croudy. Sean has served in the Flint Community Schools for over twenty years, serving as a director of the community recreation for Flint's first African American mayor!

    Sean received his Bachelors in Social Work from Ferris University and Masters in Social Work from Eastern. Raised in a single-parent home, born and raised in Flint, Sean has made it his mission to give back to his community and he is making an impact on the youths that he serves.

    We have the honor of bringing to you, Omari Barksdale, a community leader, activist, artist & speaker with outstanding achievements of helping to bridge the gap of cultural and gender awareness.  

    Omari Barksdale BIO:  

    As an Activist: Omari has been involved in a multitude of activities and programs in which he has been called upon to provide help as a speaker, poet, ally or providing assistance with his hands.  

    In Politics: Omari served as a top Legislative researcher, writer, aide for the Detroit City Council. In addition he has authored many resolutions that have been converted into citywide and statewide legislation/actions.  In 2006 Omari waged a campaign as candidate for State Representative in the State of Michigan. Currently he manages one of Michigan's top 3 electorate phone canvassing team for Michigan Liberation and Michigan Liberation Action Fund. 

    Omari, a founding board member of SASHA Center, is also the lead male facilitator for the organization is tasked with educating men and boys about the very serious realities of gender based violence, anti-women and rape culture, and to provide bystander intervention strategies via training. 

    As a facilitator, speaker and trainer, Omari has provided services to colleges, non-profit teams, school staff members and students across the country, earning him the Ava Rogers Award in 2016 (presented at Take Back The Night, Detroit) and  SASHA Center’s “Community Engagement Award.”  

    As the North American Director of the Black History 101 Mobile Museum, Omari has accepted the privilege of helping to preserve the history of Black people in America by leading themed exhibits throughout the country for close to 15 years.  The Black History 101 Mobile Museum’s purpose is centered in historical accuracy promotion and anti-racism training 

    As an Artist: Omari  has held the attention of audiences across the country including representing Detroit, MI as a member of eight National Poetry Slam Teams (2008 & 2016 Grand Slam Champion) and the 2007 Rust Belt Championship Slam Team. In addition, he has performed at over 200 higher education institutions throughout the U.S.

    We are honored to bring on Rasmi Sengpraseuth, an immigrant-Refugee from Laos, living the American Dream and surviving the frontline helping the world battle COVID, a 20 year nurse currently working in ICU at Sherman Hospital.

Nursing Entrepreneur: Start up of  two nursing entrepreneur business: 1. co-CEO of Medical Staffing Company (Recruitment and Staffing of Top Hospital Executives, Managers and Bedside Healthcare Staff); CEO of Home Health Agency. Last 10 years focus on Beside Nursing in ICU: critical care patients: post-surgery, open heart, and all critical care patients including covid-19 Front Runner.     MEN & MENTAL HEALTH with our Guest speaker, Stephen Jackson, Outreach Coordinator for Stone Catchers Counseling.

    Stephen Jackson a Restorative Justice practitioner with over 10 years of experience. He develops and implements trainings for organizations looking to implement evidence based Restorative practices to improve relationships and outcomes.  In 2016 he became the Social Services Specialist with the Oak Park Public Library where he aided the institution in becoming the 4th library in the nation to integrate Social Services in public libraries. In August of 2019 he transitioned into the newly formed Teen Services department as the Teen Services Coordinator where he was responsible for bolstering programming and service offerings to the teen population at Oak Park Public Library. In August of 2020 Stephen transitioned to managing the Teen Services department.  

    He uses his extensive background of serving communities to serve his community. 

    Stephen is currently in his final year of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program at National Louis University and also develops and implements Restorative Justice trainings alongside his wife through their consulting agency Global Community Associates, LLC.
