‘Blazing Saddles’, ‘Chinatown’, and more classic films featured in Netflix's milestone movie collection
Netflix is launching its Milestone Movies collection, starting with classics turning 50 in 2024. The initial wave includes iconic films such as Mel Brooks's Blazing Saddles and Jack Nicholson-led Chinatown. This collection aims to address the absence of Old Hollywood movies on Netflix, providing a showcase for Hollywood hits predating 1970. To further celebrate film anniversaries, Netflix plans to add more titles throughout 2024, starting with 1984 releases in April, followed by 1994 titles in June and 2004 films in October. In addition to streaming, Netflix has organized in-person screenings at prominent theatres. The 1974 classics collection offers a diverse range of films, including works by directors like Francis Ford Coppola and Martin Scorsese.

Episode 274: Pokémon Presents: Tekken 8
We had some big gaming news over the last week between EVO 2023 and Pokémon Presents, thus giving us something to feast on before Gamescon. Meanwhile there has been a lot of movement out of Hollywood, not necessarily on the strike front, but news nonetheless. Barbie made a billion in under 20 days, Disney+ is following in Netflix's footsteps, and while Max is pulling a pandemic Netflix. Lin Manuel Miranda wants to adapt a classic for the stage, and Pixar isn't worried about the future. We cap off the show with the best movies from the 1970s.

    Blazing Saddles (1974)

    Blazing Saddles (1974)
ARMCHAIR DIRECTORS Ep 34: BLAZING SADDLES (1964) Action-thriller authors Matt James and Richard F. Paddon have a very special guest on the show. Rich's father, "Paddo," joins the fellas to chat about the comedic classic, Blazing Saddles. While some in today's world way call this movie crude, we like the think of it as a fair-game, boundary breaker. Mel Brooks went for broke on this one, and in our opinions, he nailed it. Also, everything truly is better with Dom DeLuise... Subscribe today!

Apart from his musical endeavors, Karl is a true Renaissance Man, contemplating many unique forms of artistic expression including writing a TV screenplay based on String Theory, the notion that all things are connected down to a molecular level. This type of ground-up thinking is just one of the many aspects that endears Karl to his legion of dedicated fans. But Karl also operates from a standpoint of extreme gratitude and grace, punctuated by his outspoken nature regarding his sharp socio-political points of view. He is truly a unique human and artist and we are honored to have him on the show. So hop aboard the Roadcase bus learn more from this elder-statesman of funk, Karl Denson.
