Scott and Vanessa talk about the importance of discussing finances with your spouse when you are newly blended, especially if the two of you did not have those conversations before marriage. They also offer suggestions for ongoing financial conversations moving forward. 

If you’re newly blended and you haven’t talked about money, it’s important to start having those financial conversations as soon as you can. Lay it all out on the table: monthly bills, consumer debt, child support, sources of income, a monthly budget, and any triggers from a past marriage. Also discuss whether the stepparent will participate in the financial obligations related to their stepchildren. Transparent, ongoing conversations around money is a key aspect of a healthy marriage.
