Episode #97 feat. Sam Adkins of ADKINS

Episode #97 feat. Sam Adkins of ADKINS
Every so often, a great Australian band crosses your path and you've just gotta check them out because you never know, you could be missing out on your next fav discovery and that's how we feel about ADKINS from Tasmania who popped up with their debut album The Wrong Side of Fame and have since won us over.

The boys grew up with old school metal loving parents and that influence has continued on through their music as frontman Sam Adkins discusses on this week's podcast. Podcast host Browny dives deep into the band's early beginnings, their diverse debut release and if their band name is a situation akin to that of Bon Jovi (named after the last name of the frontman). Get to know the lads and hear a collection of tunes from their new album.

We also take a look at Chester Bennington's first band Grey Daze and their new album Amends, as well as Seether's Latin influenced new album Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum and what it means.

There's also throwbacks from Pearl Jam, Audioslave, Stone Sour and Metallica, New Music from Evanescence and Bring Me The Horizon + heaps more!

Episode #96 feat. Andrew Tkaczyk of The Ghost Inside

Episode #96 feat. Andrew Tkaczyk of The Ghost Inside
There's no other band on this earth quite like The Ghost Inside. They've overcome one of the most tragic events ANYONE could ever go through and they've returned to the music scene with what we've dubbed the PERFECT comeback album which is out on Friday and to celebrate, we grabbed drummer Andrew Tkaczyk for a chat all about it.

Join podcast host Browny as their pair discuss the tragedy the band overcame, their slight deviation from the metalcore genre that made them a household name and, despite the curveball life threw at them, how they jumped back on the musical horse and refused to give up. Turns out Andrew is also a mad keen horror movie fan and you have to hear about some of the incredible memorabilia he's collected over the years, including one piece which manages to scare the shit out of anyone who sees it for the first time.

We also take a look at the chaos across America surrounding the wrongful death of George Floyd, the serious issue in our own backyard with over 400 deaths of Indigenous Australians in police custody (which have gone unanswered) and the tracks I Prevail, Fever 333 and Sum 41 released over the past week which are more important now, than ever.

There's also New Music from Emmure, In Hearts Wake, Attila and Northlane, throwbacks from The Beautiful Monument, A Day To Remember, Bring Me The Horizon and more!

Episode #68 feat. Sharpy the Blade of Boris The Blade

Episode #68 feat. Sharpy the Blade of Boris The Blade

There's a certain stigma surrounding the Death Metal/Core genre where some naysayers refuse to listen to it due to the sheer intensity of the music and bellowing screams being flung their  way, but once you can push past the barriers, you'll discover enlightenment through some of the heaviest riffs and blast beats on this planet and a band who are renown for infecting the masses with their brutal sounds is Boris The Blade, who unfortunately, have announced they're pulling the pin on the band after almost a decade together.

Arguably up there with the great heavy acts from Australia, the guys have toured the globe and were even called upon to play at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival, a dream frontman Sharpy The Blade never thought possible when he used to watch the DVDs of the show growing up. He joins podcast host Browny to chat all about the band's epic farewell tour, the reason why they're all heading in different directions and some of his fav memories from over the years. He also goes into detail about why they're kicking things off in Sunbury, a remote semi-rural town outside of Melbourne where the band was first conceived.

We also take a look at the HUGE NEWS surrounding Slipknot which has seen OG member Chris Fehn being publically ousted from the group following allegations he was taking the band to court over pay disputes. Find out what was said ahead of their tour with Metallica later this year.

There's also plenty of HEAVY AF new music to get through from Alpha Wolf, Whitechapel and HellYeah, throwbacks from Suicide Silence, Bring Me The Horizon, iwrestledabearonce, Gravemind and heaps more...

Episode #65 feat. Mat Nicholls of Bring Me The Horizon

Episode #65 feat. Mat Nicholls of Bring Me The Horizon

Well, where do we even start with our next guest's band? Bring Me The Horizon have been tearing up stages across the globe for the better part of the past 15 years and in that time, their sound may have changed from the early deathcore roots, through to their metalcore and most recent stadium rock albums, but now, yet again, we are seeing a significant change for the band which seems them introducing EDM influenced sounds and pop rock vibes with their latest album amo. But what triggered the change? Why did they stray so far from their original sound and (as rumours suggest) was it all a challenge to see if they could crack the mainstream market?

All those burning questions you've ALWAYS wanted to know about BMTH will finally be answered as drummer Mat Nicholls co-hosts our Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall podcast this week and by everything we mean everything from their Grammy Nomination, Mat's opinions on genres being "pointless", frontman Oli Sykes' music video ideas and even if they'll be bringing their heavy song medley to Australia in April. There's even a discussion about the band's belter of a new song 'heavy metal' which is a piss-take, "fuck you" anthem for all the old fans who criticised their progression away from the heavier side of music. You do not want to miss this one.

Podcast host Browny also takes a look at Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton's new solo song with the late Chester Bennington and asks for your opinion about whether or not Wage War ripped off Architects' with their new song 'Low'.

There's also plenty of new tunes from Seas of Conflict, Kill The Lights, The Last Martyr and Fever 333, throwbacks from A Day To Remember, Enter Shikari, While She Sleeps and heaps more…

Episode #63 feat. Jade Puget of AFI

Episode #63 feat. Jade Puget of AFI

Usually when bands release an album and the hype wears down, there's the long wait that follows before fans can finally get their hands on some new material, but every now and then an act can surprise us all with a small taste of what's to come in the form of a single or EP and that's what AFI have done with their new offering The Missing Man EP.

The new collection of songs showcases what the band are truly capable of when they use their 27 years of experience together (20 for this week's guest co-host) and offer up five new songs that are unique, but still with that signature AFI tone. Guitarist Jade Puget joins Browny to talk about their decision to release an EP rather than waiting for a full-length album and his response really goes to show the band are certainly looking out for their fanbase (new and old). The pair also discusses Jade and frontman Davey Havok's straight-edge hardcore side project XTRMST and what the current state of that band is (if you didn't know about it, oh boy you're in for a treat when you hear the song we've got playing).

Talking about New Music, there is plenty of it this week from Alpha Wolf, Justice For The Damned, Void of Vision and Emigrate, throwbacks from Angels & Airwaves, The Offspring and more...

Episode #58 feat. Joey Jordison of Sinsaenum

Episode #58 feat. Joey Jordison of Sinsaenum

As heavy music fans, we tend to follow our favourite musicians throughout their careers and all the different projects they start up or are apart of and this week's special guest co-host is a prime example of that as we say G'Day to legendary drummer Joey Jordison of the new, death/black metal hybrid Sinsaenum. The HEAVY AF supergroup is made up of various metal musicians including Frédéric Leclercq of Dragonforce, Stéphane Buriez from Loudblast, Dååth's Sean Zatorsky, Mayhem frontman Attila Csihar and SETH's Heimoth.

The new band is brutally heavy and will be making their debut in Australia next week so we had to get him on to find out all about the band's conception for you and if his other side-project Vimic was still active, considering they never made it down under for fans.

Also, Joey's old band Slipknot surprise released a new song on Halloween and you better believe we're going to give that bad boy a spin. There's also New Music from Whitechapel, While She Sleeps, Bring Me The Horizon and Behemoth, throwbacks from Cradle of Filth, Amenra, Once Human, Mayhem and heaps more

Episode #39 feat. Dan Marsala of Story Of The Year

Episode #39 feat. Dan Marsala of Story Of The Year

When you've been in the industry as long as Story of the Year have been making music you tend to pick up on a few things, most importantly, you can't just rely on selling your music to make a living. Evidence of this was made when bassist Adam 'The Skull' Russell departed the band back in 2014 because it was nearly impossible to play in the band (touring and recording) as well as raising a family at the same time. SOTY frontman Dan Marsala goes into detail about the struggles the band have faced over the years as he co-hosts this week's episode of Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall ahead of their return to Australia next week in support of their new album Wolves.

The new album only made possible with the help of fans pledging money so the band could enter the studio and make the album they've wanted to for years, an idea Dan (and many fans) were sceptical about at first, but in the end, it ended up being one of the best things they've done that not only benefitted the members, but the keen and eager fans who wanted nothing more than to hear new music from the band for the first time in 7 years.

He also talks to podcast host Browny about the possibility of bringing his punk/comedy side project The Fuck Off And Dies to Australia and if his days of backflipping on stage are coming to an end anytime soon.

There's also plenty of New Music to get through from Parkway Drive, Drown This City, WAAX, Eat Your Heart Out, Dream State, State Champs, Cancer Bats and Scars on Broadway + throwbacks from Bring Me The Horizon, Stick To Your Guns, Introvert, Beartooth and heaps more

Episode #33 feat. Marcus Bridge of Northlane

Northlane are at the top of their game right now and continuing to release award winning albums every time they put something new out, so why have they recently announced their LAST AUSTRALIAN SHOW for the Foreseeable Future? It's normally around this time that bands decide to part ways or quit while they're on top so we had to grab frontman Marcus Bridge for clarification on the whole debacle on this week's episode of Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall.

Considering her only joined the band back in 2014, he wouldn't be ready to hang up the microphone just yet would he? Your podcast host Browny also looks back at the moment he was asked to join the band and what he was doing at the time. The pair also discuss fan expectations and how those stuck in the Adrian (Fitipaldes) era need to move on with their lives and embrace the future.

There's also New Music from Eyes Set To Kill, Central Coast upcomers Reliqa and throwbacks from Alexisonfire, Saosin, Falling in Reverse, Frenzal Rhomb and more...
