In this episode, we review the Grateful Dead's latest box set, Here Comes Sunshine: 1973, which contains five complete shows from Spring '73, and can still be ordered in various formats here. For those of you who don't wish to spring for the box, the June 10 show at RFK Stadium has been selected as the "breakout" show from the box, and can be found here.
I also had the pleasure of being a guest on Workingman's Pod about a month ago to discuss the June 10 show, so check it out too!

For the past several decades, Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams -- both together and separately -- have lived a life on the road performing music across the country and around the world. Now over the past several years, this lovely couple has been playing music and traveling together, touring behind their new album, Live at Levon's!, representing the special time they have spent over the years at the iconic Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY. Larry is a gifted in-demand sideman originally from New York City, while Teresa is an extraordinary vocalist who came to NYC as an actor and singer, and eventually toured as a backing vocalist with legendary acts such as Mavis Staples, Emilou Harris, Jackson Browne and Bob Weir. Larry is a noted record producer, toured as a guitarist in Bob Dylan's band for many years and was the Musical Director of Levon's Midnight Ramble Band for over a decade. Their musical lives are a tale of time spent on the road -- and now their paths have converged allowing them to create music and tour together. Their combined knowledge of road life and shared love of live performing serves as the constant impetus in their lives and they are here to share their wisdom about life, love and what is all means to them both individually and as a couple. Come share Larry's and Teresa's love of music and road life on this week's episode of Roadcase!

In Episode 27, Max's adventure begins with a ZZ Top / Skynyrd show, then we talk about some of the legendary shows at the State Fair Speedway. Now days, considered a one hit wonder, but back in 1999, Days of The New became a big deal really fast at a very young age. We talk about a couple of Days of The New / Travis Meeks shows as well as a historic Mr. Bungle show! Max tells the story about talking to David Lee Roth on the phone to buy CD Stock of the new DLR record for Choice Music, not realizing he was talking to Diamond Dave! Speaking of Choice Music, If you love Hanson, you should thank Max for carrying their independent release before blowing up for their success! If you hate Hanson, you should blame Max, its all his fault!!! Max talks about carrying their Cassette's & CD's before signing their Major Label record deal & singing acapella in Choice Music for him. Occasionally, Max will drop some gems, you just have to be there to pick up the knowlege. In this episode, he explains how Afroman gets his hustle on in certain states.... In short, Episode 27, we go from ZZ Top, to Hanson, to Afroman.... Here's The Deal!

In this, the Season 5 finale, we rank all 86 of the Grateful Dead's 1972 concerts, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of that venerable year in Dead history. In a sense, I've been working on this episode for two years now, as I listened to all 86 shows last year in preparation for this year!
This year alone, I spent somewhere in the neighbourhood of 375 hours on this exercise, and created over 40,000 words of content between notes, spreadsheets, etc. A list like this can never be entirely objective, but I did try to make the process as refined as possible. It was a labour of love all the way, and I hope you enjoy it!
I also appeared on Workingman's Pod again recently to talk '72 Dead: https://rss.com/podcasts/workingmans-pod/749443/
Thank you all for a great year, and I'll see you sometime next month for Season 6!

For the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, there is nothing better than being on stage, playing music in front of a live audience. “When you're hitting those notes that your body didn't know it could hit,” says Weir, “I feel beyond human. I can't imagine that there's more that life has to offer.” In this episode, Margo speaks to one of her long-time heroes about everything from meditation, to psychedelic mushrooms and the existence of God.
Show Notes:
Bob Weir will play four shows at Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. with Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros, Oct 5-9, followed by a fall tour across the western U.S.

In this episode, joined by my friend, Alex Mihalopoulos, we discuss the Grateful Dead's legendary Europe '72 tour in celebration of its 50th anniversary. This tour is one of my favourite topics, and as it was the first topic covered on this show way back in Episode 2, it only made sense for its 50th anniversary episode to receive the honour of being Episode 100.
