#016 The Boo Hag & A Listeners encounter with The Ghost of a Soldier in The Attic

#016 The Boo Hag & A Listeners encounter with The Ghost of a Soldier in The Attic

REMIIIXXXX! This week we talk about the most extreme roller-coaster ride there is, the Boo Hag, learn how to train our dogs to point, try tricky terrifyingly tremendous tongue twisters together,  and the boy-band Blue comes up again for some strange reason.... (We get it Aaron, you're a fan).

Let's continue to explore the unknown together...

    The Boo Hag

    The Boo Hag

SCARED TO DEATH IS EXPLICIT IN EVERY WAY. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHILE LISTENING.

Dan kicks off this episode of Scared To Death with the lore of the Boo Hag or the Old Hag Syndrome. Is this a terrifying experince that can be explained away by sleep paralysis or is it more sinister than that? Then we are headed to the border for a collection of short stories about various encounters with spirits and sightings.  Lynze finishes up the show with a tale of one woman's connection to the other side as it pertains to her co-habitants at the nursing home she resides in. She also has a tale about dreams and what may come to us in our dreams- is it real or is it a shared experience or is it just a dream?

Bad Magic Productions Monthly Patreon Donation: This months charity donation is going to Camp Easton, a boy scouts camp here in CDA. Camp Easton is where we are hosting our Wet Hot Bad Magic Summer Camp!! We are donating $15,400 to them and putting $2000 into the scholarship fund! While visiting the location on many occasions, I have come to know some of the staff and hear about the needs of the camp. As with all places that are host to camps, they have a laundry list of repairs and upgrades that would be incredibly beneficial!

Standup: If you want to see a very different side of Dan than you see here and possibly see Lynze in the crowd, his Symphony of Insanity standup tour will be back this fall. Go to dancummins.tv for ticket links to shows in Nashville, Palm Beach, Portland and MORE!!

    Opening Sumerian protection spell (adapted):
"Whether thou art a ghost that hath come from the earth, or a phantom of night that hath no home… or one that lieth dead in the desert… or a ghost unburied… or a demon or a ghoul… Whatever thou be until thou art removed… thou shalt find here no water to drink… Thou shalt not stretch forth thy hand to our own… Into our house enter thou not. Through our fence, breakthrough thou not… we are protected though we may be frightened.  Our life you may not steal, though we may feel SCARED TO DEATH."

    Boo Hags - South Carolina

    Boo Hags - South Carolina

The Gullah Geechee people of the Sea Islands have long shared the legend of a skinless horror who's sole aim is to suck the breath and life force out of their victim's chest, all while their victim slumbers soundly. Fill in any cracks on your windowsill, prepare your salt, paint your house blue, and most importantly..."don't let de hag ride ya."

Talks! 36 - Christopher Bickel (Bad Girls, In/Humanity, Guyana Punch Line)

This week I talked with director, and Columbia, SC music scene legend (heck, punk rock legend in general), Christopher Bickel via Skype about his history as the singer for such well regarded bands as In/Humanity and Guyana Punch Line, as well as his current projects as director of movies full of sex, drugs , and punk rock and roll. We also talk about the Columbia music scene, mostly past but some present, as well as another take on why people just don't go to see local music these days. Be sure to check out The Theta Girl and Bad Girls, as I can promise you won't be disappointed!

    Radio - Episode 23 (Best of 2020)

    Radio - Episode 23 (Best of 2020)

This week's episode of Gabba Gabba Huh? Radio is not only a "best of" 2020, but it's also a one year anniversary marker, and gives you a hint of what's to come if you stick around for the whole thing! These are some of my favorite local songs of the year, and while not everything is included, it's a pretty good representation of what's going on in the NC/SC scene right now. The last couple of minutes of this (before the final song) is me, purely uncut and rambling, but I enjoyed getting a moment to talk about the podcast and what my upcoming plans are. Thanks for an awesome year, y'all... I got more in store for next year!
