Ep. 030: 2022 Affiliate Cup Competition Season Explained

âItâs really important that we highlight how important the affiliate is to everything we do, and that should transcend whether thatâs having the average person show up and have a life-changing experience due to the coaching that theyâre going to receive all the way down to how it reflects in the competition.â âAdrian Bozman

Host Chase Ingraham and CrossFit Competition Director Adrian Bozman outline the 2022 Games season for athletes preparing for the Affiliate Cup competition at the 2022 Games Finals.

To compete in the Affiliate Cup, athletes must first register for the Open as an individual. A member of the affiliate â who is then designated as the team captain â will then register the affiliate team. The team captain can add members to the team and/or members can join the team themselves.

After the Open, the top 25% of teams from each continental region with a minimum of 50 teams will advance to the Quarterfinals. The top 80 teams in North America, 40 teams in Europe, and 20 teams in Africa, South America, Asia, and Oceania will advance to Semifinals.

The top one to five teams, depending on the Semifinal, will advance to the CrossFit Games Finals in Madison.

In this episode, Bozman gives an in-depth breakdown of which athletes are eligible to compete in the Affiliate Cup, what steps they and their teammates need to take to advance, and how teams will submit scores.

Bozman also confirms that team athletes can expect to see variations in workouts across divisions and more of an emphasis on teamsmanship during the Quarterfinals stage.

Like Iggy Pop in the 1980's, this episode is a real wild child. I'm FINALLY joined by one of my best friends in the world, Chris "Irish Eyes Are Smiling" Moran. I spelled his name differently in the title because A. he's a teacher and quite frankly I don't want any of his students to discover this naughty show and B. he sometimes calls himself Curtis Morgan. I'm not sure why, but it pleases me so. But wait, that's not all. My lovely wife Claire once again joins us in the studio because she not only lives here at the Palace of Sin, but she's also super tight with Mr. Morgan. He actually lives in the apartment above ours so we all hang out constantly, often spinning wax. This episode is the closest I can possibly get to capture shooting the sh*t at my place on a Friday night, cause that's when we laid this bad motha down. Best of all, we listen to Morrissey! FINALLY!! So many personal Jam Sandwich fantasies are being fulfilled in dis bish. We spin Viva Hate and Vauxhall & I, which would've likely happened had the microphones been on or not. Rock Spirit Radio graduates to it's 6th session with Dave and BoZ. This session is dedicated to BoZ's Mom who passed away Aug 11th, 2012. Then Dave guides us through some breathing exercises and prayers. while we meditate with him. Dave say's a special prayer for my Mom and I, BoZ, talk about the passing of my dear Mother and recite the prayer of St. Francis. Then Dave sending prayer to all who are affected by Hurricane/Super storm Sandy on the Atlantic coast of the U.S.A. as well as the problems with the rest of the world. Then Dave guides us through some breathing exercises and prayers. while we meditate with him. After that journey (it even took Dave away for a little while). This all leads up to the International release of three teaser tracks from Dave's new album to be released by spring 2013. In between each track, I talk to Dave and the chat room makes comments as well as asks questions. I have known Rick for a couple of years now but never spent enough time with Maple Mars "Galaxyland" and see the video to know that I have a very creative and talented individual in my circle. I should have interviewed him sooner but sometimes doing this is overwhelming with all that life puts on your plate. So, when Rick sent me his latest album "Ruby Free" I immediately dug the album art and music which we talk about in the interview. It's a complete different dimension from Maple Mars which is very commendable. Rick and I talk about passion in music, animation and mixing. He had the music bug as far back as he can remember. We mention some of Rick's influences on "Ruby Free," which is very cool. Our Skype line dropped twice (which is a first for me) but during post it's pretty seamless. I kept it in so you can "feel" the "LIVE" aspect of the show. I deleted all "dead air." We had a lot of people listening but chose not to get in the chat room where all the fun is but that is OK. I play a couple of clips from others, one from our friend Cosmo Topper's "Hippie Christmas" version 2011 as there are 3 or 4 versions and one from Moe Berg's "The Pursuit of Happiness," since we were talking about Todd (Rundgren) and his engineering skills on the album "Love Junk." So about a minute clip to get one verse and the lead then we fade back to Rick. During our first disconnection, I played the track "Bongos and Beards," from Ruby Free and followed up with "Starting Over" off Rick's last release from Maple Mars, "Galaxyland." One our second Skype disconnect I played Ruby Free's "Wound Up To Tight." We talk about his day gig at Dreamworks, the evil of the music business and various other subjects.
