It was a big summer for disaster and a big summer for jersey cotton sheets. Zach accuses Sloane of loving jersey cotton sheets and she defends her honor by insisting she does not enjoy being shrink wrapped and cocooned by sheets in a bag. Beware the beat of the cloth-wrapped feet! From tombs beneath the scorching desert sand, it's a four-way battle to the death! Which movie endures the curse and earns the right to be called The Mummy?

Contender 1: The Mummy (1932). Boris Karloff, fresh off of his sensational performance as Frankenstein's monster a year earlier, has become THE theatrical attraction for Universal Pictures! So why not dig up another role for the uncanny Karloff? But since Bela Lugosi had already delivered as the world's most famous vampire, how about a Dracula-like tale of another cursed creature who rises from a tomb?

Contender 2: The Mummy (1959). Not to be outdone, Hammer Films were on a roll with their own interpretations of colorful classic monsters. Their early horrors seemed most effective when starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, which should be a given. But the behind the camera pairing of director Terence Fisher and writer Jimmy Sangster owe a great deal to the quality and success, as well.

Contender 3: The Mummy (1999). We jump ahead forty years, to an Indiana Jones-inspired adventure movie, with 90s-perfected CGI special effects. But how well do those visual effects hold up more than twenty years later? It does seem as though the new millennium era cast of attractive young faces, led by Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and Arnold Vosloo, may be the only visuals that many viewers are concerned about.

Contender 4: The Mummy (2017). It was supposed to be a new launching point for Universal's attempt at a classic monster-filled cinematic "Dark Universe." But even the star power of Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe could not prevent this from becoming a critical and financial failure. Is this new tale, which seems to want to incorporate some of the 1999 film's adventure elements, with the wrinkle of a female mummy, really as bad as its reputation would have you believe?

This week Zach and Sloane unwrap 1997's surprise volcano in Los Angeles film: Volcano! This movie reminds us of a simpler time in America where Anne Heche's cinematic love interests were inexplicably 30 years older than her and volcanoes sprouted from the La Brea Tar Pits. It truly was a different time. Women still had reproductive rights! How times have changed! Although we are probably on track for a real life volcano to pop up in downtown Los Angeles any day now. Zach and Sloane stay mostly on topic for this film save for a few quick google searches like "are the La Brea Tar Pits real?" and "who sings the song I Love LA?" Spoiler alert: Sloane doesn't get that answer right. All that and so much more on this week's Mummy Dearest!

What a wild ride this movie was! I love the music/record industry storylines of 90s movies. This one was sooo ridiculous and hilarious and made me love Brendan Fraser even more than I already do. 

Me and Jules went a bit off the rails with our music biz talk and basically pointing out how everything isn't as easy as getting your single on the radio anymore. We get into the FASHION (yep), the other casting possibilities, and why men need to start wearing crop tops again.

This week Zach and Sloane unwrap Real Housewives of Miami season 4 finale part 2 (or, part dos, en español). What a treat this season has been. The women gave us everything we needed: gay intrigue, baby assassins, cocaine, domestic violence, outfit repeating, bedazzled tumblers and a night at Gianni Versace's home. Zach and Sloane take back everything they've ever said about Lisa because she laid out all her pain for the world to see during the second part of the finale. It took a lot of courage for her to tell America she wasn't a good mom. Her words, not ours.  And then there's our queen Alexia, who remains a top tier housewife and will enter the pantheon of iconic ladies on Bravo. Andew Cohen made a wise choice bringing back our girls, and we can't thank him enough. Here's to Peacock hopefully giving these ladies another season! We miss them already!
