Reel Rankings: The Revival (Part 2): 2013-2016

Reel Rankings: The Revival (Part 2): 2013-2016

Part 2 takes us through Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and Moana. These titans of modern animated filmmaking filled co-host Raeley and I with such hope for a new era in Disney animation... and then they "broke" the internet.

P.S. This was recorded long before the public announcement that Auli'i Cravalho will be the executive producer of the live-action remake of
Moana. We here at Disney Reel to Reel support further media representation for all cultures, including Pacific Islanders. We just have a beef with the Walt Disney Studios for not taking on more innovative projects. But what else is new in Hollywood?

    Silent Beginnings: Peter Pan (1924)

This month, we fly off to Neverland with friend and former co-host of the Walt's New? podcast, Deborah Williams. Along the way, we provide a general overview of the Peter Pan story and the 1924 film, with tangents involving Brendon Urie, DCOMs, and my disdain for the 1953 Disney film (Screw Peter... unless we make him gay/YA, but still).

S2E2: Panic! at the Roundtable! with Charlie Harding and Shawn Denae

When I got the chance to sit down with DJ Shawn Denae and Charlie Harding from the hit music podcast, Switched on Pop, I knew I had to do a panel/roundtable talk about pop music. We discuss artists becoming more involved songwriting and producing, and the increase of transparency in the songwriting process. We also chat about my favorite group, Panic! at the Disco. Sinners and Vros, stick around as we break down and analyze, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," "Death of A Bachelor," and "Hey look ma, I made it." ⁣
