Ep139 - Euro woes, new signings, season ticket prices and loyalty scheme verdict

Welcome to this week's show where we discuss the 26-33 home defeat at the hands of Clermont. A couple of gift-wrapped tries in each half meant Bristol had too much to do to snatch a victory at the end. All in all, a disappointing end to our European campaign.

We also discuss the nine players who have extended their contracts plus the two new arrivals for next season. Also hear our thoughts on next year's season ticket prices and the current loyalty scheme.

All this and more with Tony, Lee and Pete.

Ep124 - Bears beat the Springboks on historic night

Ep124 - Bears beat the Springboks on historic night

In this week's show we reminisce about the Bears 26-18 victory over South Africa A in front of a record-breaking attendance at Ashton Gate.

The boys discuss the game and the off-pitch events this made this game one that will live long in the memory. But find out why Lee had to raise a Gets My Goat from Thursday night.

We also discuss Bristols 38-31 loss away to Gloucester in the Premiership Cup and the Women's convincing opening league victory against Wasps.

We look ahead to the next league game against Sale, mourn the loss of Brizzley Bear and comment on his successor and round up this weekend's international action.

There's an invitation to Bears' CEO Tom Tainton and Bristol's favourite sports broadcaster to come on the show. All this and more with Lee, Miles, Pete, Tony and the return of the Christmas Tree.

Ep106 - Disappointing defeats to Gloucester and Northampton, contract woes and Sale preview

Ep106 - Disappointing defeats to Gloucester and Northampton, contract woes and Sale preview

Not a great week for the Bears with disappointing loss against Gloucester in the Premiership Cup quickly followed by a league defeat away at Northampton. Hear our thoughts on the player performances, tactics and where it all went wrong... again.

To make a bad week on the field worse, news broke of Bristolian Dave Attwood's departure at the end of the season to join Bath. Then the Daily Telegraph's  revelation that a contract mess up means six players who were due to leave the club have been given one year extensions, due to a missed deadline, leaving a reported £400k gap in our salary budget for next season.

We discuss the how the gap may be filled and what big names might be on their way out to balance the books.

Plus our preview of the European game away at Sale with our friends from The Shark Tank podcast.

All this and more on this week's show.

Ep102 - Tiff & Co take the sting out of Wasps, Bath preview and U18 Champions

Ep102 - Tiff & Co take the sting out of Wasps, Bath preview and U18 Champions

This week we bask in the glory of the Bears bonus-point win against a strong Wasps team. We certainly didn't expect to see such a good performance after the horror show at Worcester the week before.

Hera out thoughts on the likes of Strong, Eden, Frisch and Adeolokun who all stepped up to the plate to guide the Bears to a memorable win. Hear our thoughts on the game, performances and tactics and if Tiff Eden had done enough to keep the 10 shirt for next week.

We also look ahead to the next game against a slowly improving Bath team with our friend Matt Price from @BathBytes. Hear our thoughts on Pat's likely selections and how this big westcountry derby will go.

There's also news about the U18s winning the national title, a close game for the women against Sarries and Harry Randall's first Six Nation start against Wales.

All this and more with Lee, Miles, Pete and Tony.

Ep99 - Bears have Falcons in a flap, Irish preview and the Bristol Bullsharks

Ep99 - Bears have Falcons in a flap, Irish preview and the Bristol Bullsharks

In this week's show we give our thoughts on Bristol's entertaining 37-21 win against Newcastle Falcons at Ashton Gate. Tom Whiteley shone as a nine-and-a-half (scrum half and fly half) and Siva Naulago put in a eye-catching performance in his first start of the season after a long-term injury.

We also look ahead to the next game on Friday against London Irish and Pete has a cosy chat with our good friend Jerry Brown, Chair of the London Irish Supporters Association. Jerry tells us all about the teams recent form, a young number 7 to look out for and his thoughts on how the game will go.

With Uren and Morahan off with injuries at the weekend, we give our thoughts on who might come in and wether Tiff Eden did enough to keep the fly half jersey.

We also talk to the Bristol Bullsharks, a new team looking for players - it's rugby but not as we know it; we discuss Sinckler, Randall and Sheedy's opening weekend in the Six Nations; and comment on Harry Randall's new 'long-term' deal with the Bears.

All this and more with Tony, Lee and Pete.

Ep93 - Baby Rhino lands in Bear Country and will Bristol tame the unbeaten Tigers

With the trip to Paris to play Stade Francais postponed at short notice we take a look at the team Pat selected and ponder on the future of this year's competition.

We also look ahead to the big Boxing Day fixture against the unbeaten Leicester Tigers at Ashton Gate.  With a fixture that has more spice this year than a vindaloo, we talk to our friend at the Rolling Maul podcast (Leicester fan pod) about the Genge  transfer and accompanying promo video, last season's 'scrumgate' and the Boxing Day match up. It's a cracking listen.

There's also Under 18s discussions, the Women's team and transfer gossip about an incoming international hooker.

All this and more with Tony, Lee, Miles and Pete.

Ep67 - Bears beaten in Bordeaux and out of Europe this season

Ep67 - Bears beaten in Bordeaux and out of Europe this season

In this week's show we discuss the disappointing 36-17 defeat at the hands of Bordeaux and our exit from this season's Champions Cup. We came up against a good Bordeaux team for sure, but we ask - did we do ourselves justice in France? We also debate the performance of the referee and TMO. Some questionable decision making but was this the main reason for our downfall?

We take a look at the tactics and player performances from the game to figure out what went wrong for the Bears. With a free week now, we discuss the need to regroup and prepare for the next league game away at Newcastle in a fortnight's time.

We also have a very special message from the club to share and discuss the rumour that Gloucester's Mark Atkinson could be a target for Pat Lam. All this and more on this week's show.

Ep66 - Bears snatch late win against Quins and a look ahead to the trip to Bordeaux

Ep66 - Bears snatch late win against Quins and a look ahead to the trip to Bordeaux

It was another dramatic late finish for the Bears to score two tries in the final five minutes to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. A cracking game of rugby and we discuss the performances, tactics and other talking points from the 35-33 win at Ashton gate. A win that sees us extend our lead at the top of the table to 12 points. yes that's TWELVE points!

We are also joined be Veronique from The French Rugby Connections Podcast for our preview of the Champions Cup game in Bordeaux. We get the French perspective as well as talking about Pat's options for this must-win game.

All this and more on this week's show.

To preview our visit to Franklin's Gardens we are joined by Tom Vickers from the Northampton Chronicle & Echo to find out how Northampton Saints are performing this term. Hear what he has to say and our thought on Pat's options for the game with a few more players coming back from injury.

We also talk about our international boys performances for their respective countries; the draw for the next round of the Champions Cup; and about some new faces at Bristol. All this and more with Lee, Miles, Pete and Tony.

Ep62 - Bears tame the Tigers at Ashton Gate to stay top

In this week's show we talk about the hard-fought 17-3 victory over Leicester at Ashton Gate. Once again a far from convincing performance from Bristol, but they found a way to win. We review the team selections, tactics and player performances. We also give a big thumbs up to Max Lahiff who took on the summariser's role for BT Sport. Eighty minutes of pure Lahiff wit and humour.

We also look forward to our next league game away at Worcester Warriors. With the lengthy list of players unavailable, how many options does Pat have to freshen up the team? We get the inside track at our hosts at Sixways from Marcello Cossali-Francis, sports reporter for the Worcester News.

Later in the show we talk about the Wales v England game and look at Bears duo Sinckler and Sheedy and compare their performances for their respective countries. We finish with a question from a listener - at the halfway point of the season, who would be our player of the year so far.

All this and more on this week's pod'. Plus the return of Miles and his top punditry.

Ep54 - Bears take maximum points from The Stoop and get ready for Falcons test.

Ep54 - Bears take maximum points from The Stoop and get ready for Falcons test.

We look forward to the home game against Newcastle on New Year’s Day with a little help from our friends at the Folk on Falcons podcast. How do Newcastle play, who to look out for and why they’ve made a good start to the season.

We also talk about the 2,000 tickets we might have had for New Year’s Day and ask if the policy of refunds to season card holders and a then flat ticket price of £35 is fair.

    All this and more...

Ep44 - Bristol Bears secure first European final with extra-time win

Ep44 - Bristol Bears secure first European final with extra-time win

In this week's show we talk about the dramatic European Challenge Cup semi-final against Bordeaux. Once again it was a slow start at Ashton Gate before Bristol came back from 0-13 down to lead 20-13 deep into the second half. But a late Bordeaux try took the game into extra time at 20-20. The Bears powered through the extra 20 minutes to win 37-20 and seal a first ever European final. What a nail biter! What a win! What a night!

With two games in five days we review the upcoming games against Leicester and London Irish that will confirm our final league position and playoff ambitions. Hear our thoughts on these must-win games and if we think Bristol can make the top four.

With COVID-19 restrictions stopping crowds coming back for trial games, we ask what does the future hold for professional rugby in England. Can Premiership teams survive with up to six months with out paying crowds?

    All this and more...

Ep43 - Bristol Bears turn Dragon slayers in quarter-final clash

Ep34 - Does the salary cap fit and when will we see something from Umbro?

The boys are back and discuss the salary cap arrangements for the next few seasons. A climbdown by Bristol or a clever compromise that will protect the Bears squad? When the season starts will we see all games played or a compromise fixture list like the PRO 14?

With Bristol city's new Hummel training kit all over social media we ask when will we see something from Umbro for Bristol Bears.

There's something magical happening at Welford Road but will it spread across the Premiership!

Ep21 - Sinckler and Eadie sign for the Bears but who else will come and go?

Ep21 - Sinckler and Eadie sign for the Bears but who else will come and go?

This week the boys discuss the signing of British Lion, Kyle Sinckler, and the return of one of our own, Mitch Eadie. There's also the merits of the four contract renewals also announced this week. But where does that leave the squad for next season with the contracts of over 20 players coming to an end in June. Who will stay and who will go - we give our thoughts.

We look at the ticket pricing for the European Challenge Cup Quarter Final and reflect on 8 out of our next 10 games appearing live on BT Sport. We save England's 'no show' performance in Paris in the Six Nations until the end - sharp but to the point analysis.
