KBK Bite Size vol 5 Tales From The Crypt (1972)

KBK Bite Size vol 5 Tales From The Crypt (1972)

It’s Christmas in July, baby!! That’s right, when it comes to individual segments of a horror anthology, 1972’s TALES FROM THE CRYPT is the gift that keeps on giving! It’s the ultimate battle between bad planning and a “deranged manic!” Along the way, we unwrap all our big questions: Who the hell is going HAM on that organ? Who takes a cemetery tour when they’re in a hurry? What’s up with the Rastafarian Egg? Is the home decor of this house meant to drive us insane? Who commits a murder like this while wearing such an impractical belt? All this, plus we pull a Choose Your Own Deathventure out of our stockings, and we ask if we can improve a movie with Wolfens! This week, we’ve got tales to tell on Kill By Kill Bite Size!!

NOTE: We support the WGA West & East and SAG-AFTRA in their fight for workers' rights! Until further notice, we will not cover current films in theaters or new films dropping on streaming networks. To find out more, please visit the WGA or SAG-AFTRA websites!

Now in select theaters and video-on-demand starting June 18, Censor is a British horror film from Magnolia, directed and co-written by Prano Bailey-Bond. It stars Niamh Algar as a film censor in the 1980s struggling to balance fiction and reality as she starts to see comparisons between real-life events and brutal horror depicted in the video nasties of the era. The film also stars Nicholas Burns, Vincent Franklin, Sophia La Porta, Adrian Schiller and Michael Smiley.

Amicus Anthology Triple Threat Deathmatch (Tales from the Crypt, Vault of Horror & From Beyond the Grave)

Amicus Anthology Triple Threat Deathmatch (Tales from the Crypt, Vault of Horror & From Beyond the Grave)

When a pair of New Yorkers create a British production studio, you get Amicus! Generally considered to be the primary rival of Hammer Films, as far as British horror output, in the 1960s and 70s. And if Amicus were the masters of one thing, it was the horror anthology film. We've chosen three of their anthology classics to square off, head-to-head, in our Anthology Deathmatch format! First up, with stories based on those featured in classic EC Comics, is a classic title. One which many will have heard before. But we're not talking about the HBO television series. We're talking about the original feature film outing, Tales from the Crypt (1972)! The next deathmatch competitor, is another title taken from classic EC horror comics. Because beneath the crypt lies The Vault of Horror (1973)! And then from there, the stories of author R. Chetwynd-Hayes are featured within our final deathmatch combatant. Peter Cushing invites you to shop his antiques in Temptations Limited. He might cut you a deal, even if you're naughty. But you might end up paying the ultimate price in From Beyond the Grave (1974)!

The Wicker Man (1973) - Horrors of Movies

The Wicker Man (1973) - Horrors of Movies

    Directed by Robin Hardy
    Screenplay by Anthony Shaffer
A puritan Police Sergeant arrives in a Scottish island village in search of a missing girl who the locals claim never existed.
Edward Woodward as Sgt. Neil Howie
    Christopher Lee as Lord Summerisle
    Britt Ekland as Willow MacGregor
Annie Ross as Willow MacGregor (voice)
Rachel Verney as Willow MacGregor (singing voice)
    Diane Cilento as Miss Rose
    Ingrid Pitt as Librarian
    Lindsay Kemp as Alder MacGregor

    Hammer or Amicus?

    Hammer or Amicus?

The Cinemondo Gang welcomes special guest Lorna Sullivan all the way from Jolly Old England to discuss the horrors of HAMMER and AMICUS FILMS! The classic, gothic, violently full-color horror films that gave us all nightmares as kids… DRACULA, FRANKENSTEIN and THE MUMMY… and their various sequels. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing and some of the greatest writers and directors in the business. We get into other lesser-known Hammer films including science fiction like the QUATERMASS films and even some dinosaur epics like ONE MILLION YEARS B.C.

And a bonus campfirestory from Lorna about a genuinely creepy (and totally TRUE) doll experience. Definitely a cheerio, pip pip of a podcast episode!

Music composed and performed by Burk Sauls.

    Woman in Black

    Woman in Black
This week the gang put Woman in Black on Trial. Is it a triumphant return for Hammer? Or a horrific hammer blow? It’s a continuation of our Halloween Horror Month, where each of the gang picks one of their favourite (and underrated) horror films to defend throughout October. This week, Joel is the who is acting as the defense, and arguing that the atmospheric ghost story be placed on the Hit List. Alex is acting as the prosecution and trying to convince us to just watch Harry Potter instead. Dave and Ausy are the character witnesses, whilst Gav acts as the judge, giving the final verdict. In the news, the gang talk about James Gunn joining the DC Universe, and the trailers for Aladdin and... Plus Alex asks which is our favourite Haunted House in this week’s Film Feels. This week’s quiz is all about the screen adaptations and writings of Jane Goldman! All of that plus a Caption Contest, spooky musical instruments, impressions and banter. www.filmsontrial.co.uk
