Ranking Players Who Could Quit the Premier League

Ranking Players Who Could Quit the Premier League

    Hello Rank Squad!

Today we're taking a look at some of the most important and influential players who could be departing the Premier League this summer, for a variety of reasons. We walk through a couple of bona fide Premier League legends, some big names who might be a little bit past their peak right now, and some crucial cogs who could be tempted away by the lure of trophies or bigger names.

From veteran legends at Manchester United and Liverpool, to big parts of Eddie Howe's Newcastle United project, to regular  forwards at Tottenham and Chelsea - there's some stories and insight here that you will not want to miss.

Before that, we get stuck into the bones of the Premier League title race and the new format for the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League next season, and then in Part Three we're on the hunt for teams for another listener - this time Mitch in North Carolina.

    It's Ranks!

Phenomenal Foden Keeps Manchester Blue (Postbox Excerpt)

Phenomenal Foden Keeps Manchester Blue (Postbox Excerpt)

    Hello Rank Squad!

It's time for the weekly excerpt from our Monday Postbox episode on Patreon, where we take questions from our community to look back across all the action from the weekend just gone.

This is the segment on the Manchester Derby, where Phil Foden took centre stage once again to light things up as Manchester City beat Manchester United 3-1 - City's Stockport sensation trumping United's Wythenshawe wizard on a day where two academy products scored brilliant goals for their respective sides.

We discussed Foden's importance to this City side, his place right now in the POTY and Ballon d'Or debates, how United's tactics dissolved into a lack of cohesive plan in the second half, where Foden and Rashford sit in Gareth Southgate's England set up, and much more.

I Will Raise Up for You a Prophet

I Will Raise Up for You a Prophet

Prophets seem to be appreciated the most when their work is appreciated in retrospect. I imagine they could have been polarizing figures at the time of their important ministry. Even today, speaking truth to power can make your life very difficult. Yet, these voices are necessary. Churches need to be receptive to them. We need to embrace them and nurture them. I believe God is still raising up prophets for all of us, but are we willing to listen?

The Undisputed Anchor (feat. Porter Collins)

The Undisputed Anchor (feat. Porter Collins)

Getting to a certain point in your life, you realize the gifts that are offered to you along the way, and for Porter Collins, rowing was one of them. The three-time World Champion, two-time Olympian (1996 & 2000), 1994 Henley Royal Regatta Champ, Eastern Sprints & IRA National Champion, Collins cemented himself as a significant, generational talent in United States Rowing. A 1998 Brown University Graduate, Porter was apart of undisputedly, the best freshman class in the history of men's collegiate rowing.

A rower in the Mike Teti National Team Era, Porter learned first hand what real work ethic and passion looks like. These fundamentals, along with others, propelled not only Porter, but his teammates to reach success and make it to the highest stage in rowing. Hudson and Porter sit down and discuss what really happened during the buildup to the 2000 Olympic Games, the documentary, importance of Pete Cipollone, power of Steve Gladstone and how excellent he is as a rowing coach and recruiter, inspiration from Xeno Muller, and the purpose of failure. We even dive into Porter's occupation in stocks and working for hedge funds, being one of the subjects in "The Big Short" a movie correctly predicting the market crash in 2008. Collins firmly stands by "the greatest challenges offer the greatest rewards, and how we meet that reveals the truth in all of us". It is evident how this quote follows Porter throughout his daily life and experiences competing for Brown, and the US National Team. People did not believe in Porter and he was cut from certain teams, but that did not stop him from reaching his goals and making history. Be sure to tune in!

Rowing Blazers Hit Me Up! (feat. Will Legenzowski)

Rowing Blazers Hit Me Up! (feat. Will Legenzowski)

Welcome everyone to another episode featuring Maritime Rowing Club's Hall of Fame athlete, Mr. Will Legenzowski, of USRowing & Brown Men's Crew '23. Will, also known to his peers as "Leggo" continues to inspire a fleet of athletes dreaming about getting to the highest level in rowing, and just know that this podcast won't be the last time you will hear from Will... we have some things cookin'!! Legenzowski, hails from "The Big Apple" where he attended New Canaan High School while rowing for their crew team, but decided it was time to travel to Connecticut to compete with Maritime Rowing Club. After tearing his ACL in high school, Will and his family felt it was best to try a high intensity but low impact sport, so rowing was just a no-brainer. The Legenzowski family are up there with top-tier elite athletes with Will's two sisters, Carly, a coxswain for the University of Texas, and Brooke, a rower for Stanford Lightweight Women.

Will is a two-time National & Northeast Regional Champion in the Men's Youth Quad. He holds a 1st Place finish and current course record-holder for the Under 19 Men's Single Sculls at Canadian Henley (2017) and Head of the Charles in the Men's Youth Coxed Quad. Nonetheless, Legenzowski and his team traveled across the country to compete at the San Diego Crew Classic, winning their event in the Men's Youth Quad as well. To close out his high school campaign, Will was a runner-up for the 2018 USRowing Under-19 Athlete of the Year, which used to be called "USRowing Fan's Choice Junior Athlete of the Year Award".

Legenzowski committed to row D1 Crew for the Bruno, where he acclaimed the title of "IRCA First Team All-American Rower", "Second Team All Ivy League", and dabbles with the Brown Women's Gymnastics team as their Team Manager and Lead Actor in a feature film! Leggo got 8th in the Men’s 1x at 2021 USA U23 World Championships, and 2nd in the Men’s 8+ at 2022 USA U23 World Championships, along with high finishes at Head of the Charles and Eastern Sprints in the Varsity 8+. Taking a gap semester off of school to compete for the Green Racing Project, Will was and remains to be as committed to rowing as the boat is to water, the two just work hand in hand. So many different topics were discussed and covered, so be sure to tune into this exceptional "Bucket of Bliss" and see how this avid rower continues to make waves in this sport and life as well!

Once Upon A Race (feat. Jack DiGiovanni)

Once Upon A Race (feat. Jack DiGiovanni)

Welcome to another episode of the For Stars Podcast, where today we get to hear from coxswain, Jack DiGiovanni, a Brown University Men’s Crew All-American 9th seat. Jack competed at the 2022 U23 World Rowing Championships this past summer in Italy, where he coxed the USA BM8+ to a 2nd place finish. Probably a historic moment in rowing and in Jack’s words, “a once and a lifetime experience” matched up against his rowing coach back at Brown, Scotty Cockle, of Great Britain, where he placed 1st.

Hudson and Jack discuss their experience as coxswains, being a student-athlete at Brown, the coxswain recruitment process, how Jack wasn’t originally going to Brown, and more!

We also touch on the triad of a race where Brown, Yale & Washington go neck and neck in Sarasota, Florida this spring, and Jack’s preview on how it’s going “to come down to the last 30 seconds”. Be sure to tune into Jack’s podcast with FSP and how rowing ultimately changed his life for the greater good.

He Believed In Me (feat. Xeno Müller)

He Believed In Me (feat. Xeno Müller)

Many of you might have received emails from a man by the name of "Xeno Müller" a Division 1, Swiss-American rower from Brown University. Like myself, you might be wondering how he even received your email, but to be honest that is a mystery in of itself. Coached by previous FSP guest, Mr. Steve Gladstone, he helps train youth athletes on what he calls the "SAT/ACT of rowing... the ERG"!! Getting recruited to university is a struggle for many athletes, in which one of the most deciding factors besides academic success, is the time/data spent on the ergometer. Xeno's program focuses on moving past the mental hurdle of the erg, and improving times slowly but surely. We hear his main reasoning of creating this unique idea, winning C.R.A.S.H.-B'S, the value of a coxswain, and his overall mission in this sport. Be sure to tune in!
