Building a Mobile Airstream Business and the Power of Trusting Ourselves with Lindsay Dickerhoof

Building a Mobile Airstream Business and the Power of Trusting Ourselves with Lindsay Dickerhoof

To be a mom and own a business, it takes a lot of trust.

We can’t do everything. We can’t be watching our kids 24/7 while also micromanaging every aspect of our work lives. To a point, we just have to have faith that the people around us will hold us up.

In today’s episode, I’m chatting with Lindsay Dickerhoof, a hairstylist, makeup artist, Mary Kay consultant and owner of Harestream, a mobile wedding salon that travels via a beautiful Airstream van. She’s also the mom to two beautiful babies.

So much of our conversation has to do with trust, and how important it was for her to grow her business and be the mom she wanted to be.

It required trust in her faith; trust in herself; trust in her employees; and trust in the vision of what she wants her business and her life to look like.

E74: How Jesus Built A Team

E74: How Jesus Built A Team

Congratulations! Your ministry or business is growing! You are finally seeing the fruit of all your hard work. But that hard work has worn you out and it’s time to find some help! In Episode 74 of Just One Simple Thing, you’ll learn four tips for building your team by looking at how Jesus built his.

I know that many of you are solopreneurs or ministry leaders and when you’ve built something born out of your gifts and passions, it’s hard to let anything go. Nobody can do it quite as well as you can, right? Deep down, you know that attitude is an accelerator on the road to burnout. When things get bigger than you can handle on your own, it’s time to build a team. But how do you find the right people? People you can trust? People are great at what they do so you can be great at what YOU do?

Whether you are hiring your first freelance help, or gathering a ministry leadership team around you, there are some lessons we can learn from the way that Jesus built the team that would share his work and his life.

    1. He got to know them before calling them to His inner circle.
    2. Jesus evaluated people based on their potential, not their current position.
    3. Jesus watched them when they didn’t know he was looking.
    4. And as he did before every other major event, Jesus prayed about it.

Yes, it can be scary to start building your team when you have been doing everything yourself. But when you build with the right people, it frees you up to do your own best work.

But I also struggle to find an extra 45 minutes in my day to listen. Christa gets me on the right track with one simple, doable step forward in just 10 –15 minutes. Now that’s progress.

#094: How To Have a Successful VA Team

#094: How To Have a Successful VA Team

Having a successful VA team is a major part of any successful real estate business. A VA is going to be one of the first hires you make, especially if you’re a solo entrepreneur. Whether you’re new to the business or seasoned doesn’t matter – you’re going to need to eventually start outsourcing. Your time is best spent doing high-dollar activities like closing deals and you don’t have time to get stuck in administrative work. Find a good VA and let them do that work for you.

Hiring good VAs is important, but it’s more important to make sure you provide your assistants with the proper training they need. Record as much as possible so you have training sessions ready to go and reuse. Once you have one solid VA, you can bring others on and put that VA in a leadership role over them. It’s important to treat your team right, providing them with positive feedback and bonuses to foster loyalty. It’s also important to give your VAs a voice and make their own decisions.

    What’s Inside:

    • How to find and hire VAs.
    • How to structure your VA team.
    • Why it’s important to give your VAs a voice in how to run things.
