    Episode 2 - My Story

    Episode 2 - My Story

In episode two of the Transform Your Life, Business and Health Podcast I focus on telling my story. Using the Hero's journey framework (taken from the Female Entrepreneur's Association) - I explain using the framework my story from suffering from work-related stress and corporate burnout to transforming a neglected farm into The Wellbeing Farm.

    I cover the following stages:

    1. Desire for change / transformation

    2. Stepping into the unknown / overcoming fear

    3. Committing to the change

    4. Difficulties and challenges

    5. One major roadblock

    6. Discovery / revelation

    7. Goal achieved

    8. Transformation

I then explain my realisation that being a successful entrepreneur is a combination of getting three things right: your health, your business and your mindset. These three things need to be in balance to transform your life.  I then go onto to explain how these three elements will form future episodes of my podcast.

Episode 25 - with Celia Hodson, founder of Hey Girls

Episode 25 - with Celia Hodson, founder of Hey Girls
I loved my conversation with Celia, an absolute Queen, fighting period poverty one pad, cup & tampon at a time. More awards than you can shake an applicator stick at, and no wonder. Raising 3 children single-handedly, Celia was no stranger to the benefit system, an experience that has driven this powerhouse to do good, all her life. We discussed running a Social Enterprise, her work with the Scottish Government, supply chain, selling to supermarkets (hot off the press, Hey Girls now available in Sainsbury's, Waitrose AND the Co-Op), and building a team, I bloody love her.

Ep. 9: What Would Nancy Botwin Do?

Ep. 9: What Would Nancy Botwin Do?

This week, in honor of 420, Tessa and Tricia break down the pilot episode of Weeds and explore the dynamic and terrifically flawed SFLs, Nancy Botwin and Celia Hodes, played by Mary Louise Parker and Elizabeth Perkins.  They chat about the relationship between the two women while examining Nancy's decision-making skills, applauding Celia's one-liners, and learning about quaaludes.  Also, Tessa shares her dream of being a cult leader, Tricia opens up about her experience with Landmark, and Tessa takes a sociopath test.

    CELTIC PODCAST NEWS

    * Helping you celebrate Celtic culture through music. My name is Marc Gunn. I am a Celtic and Geek musician and podcaster. This show is dedicated to the indie Celtic musicians. I've been running into a problem of recent. A lot tracks I've published in this podcast recently had explicit language. I've tried over the years to keep this show clean, free from foul language. But it's gotten difficult. So I decided to announce a slight change to future procedures.

I will still continue to to try and release a clean show, no explicit language. But I removed the clean content rating on all the feeds except Apple Podcasts. That's because each podcatcher shares music differently. Spotify and Stitcher download a copy and then stores it on their servers. That means, I cannot adjust the file after it goes out.

If you listen via Apple Podcasts, then each file is taken from the Libsyn server individually. So I can edit the file and it will update on Apple Podcasts, Google Play and iHeartRadio for all future downloads.

What this means for you is IF you hear explicit language on one of those podcatchers, first, I apologize if it offends you. Second, I would recommend you email me to let me know. Third, you can delete that file and once it is fixed, you'll be able to listen to the show with clean language after.

I thank you so much for listening

How to thrive in retirement, with Celia Dodd

How to thrive in retirement, with Celia Dodd

Retirement is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be yourself and do what you want to do. It offers new possibilities for personal growth through learning, retraining, travelling and friendship.

But it’s also one of the biggest transitions we face, and brings huge psychological and emotional challenges. It’s not surprising that many people struggle with the adjustment to a different pace of life.

In this episode I’m joined by Celia Dodd, author of Not Fade Away – How to Thrive in Retirement.

Celia is an author and journalist with over 30 years’ experience of contributing features on family, relationships, health and education to national newspapers and magazines, including The Times, the Independent, the Daily Mail and Radio Times.

This is Celia’s third book; her previous book was The Empty Nest: how to survive and stay close to your adult child.

Not Fade Away guides the reader through these challenges: dealing with the loss of status and routine, reinventing relationships, managing money, and above all, finding new meaning and purpose.

It brings together expert advice and insights from people retiring now, who speak from the heart about the lessons they’ve learned and the new sources of fulfilment they’ve discovered.

By cutting a clear path through the maze of choices on offer for people retiring today – which may or may not involve giving up work completely – Not Fade Away inspires you to make up your own mind and take control of your future. And that, experts agree, is the key to a good retirement.

Here’s my conversation with Celia Dodd, author of Not Fade Away, in episode 361 of Informed Choice Radio.

Episode 123 - Straight From The Heart About Eat Your Heart Out: Nutrition Trends & Fads

Episode 123 - Straight From The Heart About Eat Your Heart Out: Nutrition Trends & Fads

When did the simple act of eating get so confusing? Keto? Paleo? Whole 30? Gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free? Add in discussions about organics, fats, intermittent fasting and gut health and it's enough to make your stomach churn. Never fear! This week, Christine takes a look at popular nutrition trends and fads so you'll be in the know hanging around the water cooler (oh yeah, water is good for you!). Plus, a call out for cultural change in the Pulse and What's Making Our Hearts Beat!

Dan Buchner emailed from from Niagara Falls, NY: "Hey Marc! Discovered the podcast over the summer. Great mix of music. The last couple weeks I’ve listened to a few I got behind on while restoring some old windows from a friend's 100 year old house. The tempo and mix helps me get through the work with ease."

Will Collins emailed: “Hey Marc (if I can call you that), I only found your podcast at the beginning of October but it's already got its hooks in me. I am a junior in college dual majoring in engineering and math. This isn't as exciting as anyone else, but I listen to the newest episodes and the giant backlog that exists every saturday during my 8-hour study sessions. It really makes the time fly, and I really appreciate all the work you put into making the best podcast around! Hope this finds you merry,“

Thanks Will. I’m so glad you found the show. It’s funny. You say that listening while studying for eight hours isn’t as exciting, but man, I love to hear it. Sure it’s  nice to think that we are all traveling in Ireland or Scotland, and listening to the podcast. But the truth is I listen while cleaning house, giving the girls a bath, or playing it to wear out overactive daughters right before bed.

Most of our lives are spent in mundane tasks. And while you may think it is uninteresting, personally, I find those mundane pieces of life to be fascinating and inspiring. And it lets me know how to make the show better. So thank you

The Defense Quests (w/ Celia Gordon)

Celia Gordon is a Criminal Defense Attorney, Yoga Instructor, Entrepreneur and co-founder of The Work-Shop in Huntington, NY. She also happens to be Elaborate host Jake's sister! Jake is home on Long Island sitting with his big sis and chatting with her about their relationship, complex family and shared father. Celia discusses how she went from district attorney intern to being one of New York's top Criminal Defense Attorneys working on high and low profile cases and defending people other's might consider un-defendable. She talks about defending the wrongly convicted Jon-Adrian Velazquez in a now infamous homicide case covered by Dateline NBC, putting her work above all else including family and self and how her ego challenged her desire to slow down and eventually go home. She goes on to discuss how Yoga allowed her to shut off her mind, put away her cell phone and deal with her conflicted feelings as well as the difficult decisions she made to find herself where she is now, so far from where she started. Following the mantra the miracles in life happen when you stop trying to figure it all out.

Also, she went through a pretty intense dubsmash phase.

A Cry for Help? FDA Bares Concerns in NEJM

The most senior FDA executives went public with their worries, frustration even, we suspect, impotence regarding the plethora of stem cells therapies in the market last November. And that article, which appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine just keeps growing in influence. Here is what Celia Whitten, Peter Marks and Robert Califf said.

Enamorada con Bachata y Salsa (In love with Bachata and Salsa)

Enamorada con Bachata y Salsa (In love with Bachata and Salsa)
Although I am not Hispanic, I still have a deep love for Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia etc, especially spending a good chunk of my childhood in Madrid, Spain (Espana, mi corazon). This is my first time mixing Bachata and Salsa. I originally made this mix for someone, but have now decided to also publish it. Whether you understand the lyrics, which I must say are beautiful, music is universally the love language, so the melodies and instrumentation should also grasp your heart. When listening to this mix, picture yourself on the beach in DR sipping on some Brugal or a Presidente, and most importantly, ENJOY! The Podcast art work should help with your visuals of the beach. Oh, and I admit, I used a lot of the same Bachata artists, call it favoritism ;) Tracklist: -Bachata- Toby Love-Casi Casi Aventura-Dile Al Amor Prince Royce- Corazon Sin Cara Romeo Santos ft Usher-Promise Juan Luis Guerra-Bachata en Fukoka Prince Royce- Las Cosas Pequenas Toby Love-Tengo un Amor Aventura-Solo por un Beso Prince Royce-El Amor que Perdimos Juan Luis Guerra-Palomita Blanca Juan Luis Guerra-Tengo un Corazon Juan Luis Guerra-Senales de Humo -Salsa- Joe Arroyo-La Noche Celia Cruz-La Vida es un Carnaval Africando-Yaye Boy Oscar D'Leon-Lloraras Willy Chirino- Soy Guajiro
