Too far in to turn back; Too early to know where we're going

Another week has passed, and college football has changed even more. That's the story of the game now, and it will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
On this week's episode of the Penn Stated podcast, hosts Donnie Collins and Sam Fremin discuss Bill O'Brien to Boston College, Chip Kelly to Ohio State, and more moves that wouldn't have been expected in college football as recently as just a few years ago. They also talk about James Franklin's thoughts on the subject from his winter workouts press conference on Tuesday.
What is the one area that needs to be fixed most for the health of the game in the free agency era? The answer Donnie and Sam provide might surprise you.
The guys also spend the second segment discussing the latest additions to their All-Franklin Team, and there are some potentially controversial ones as they pick their top cornerbacks, guards and centers. Who is the Penn State star one host insists wouldn't have made his team despite multiple years worth of All-Big Ten honors?
They also close with a tribute to near-Super Bowl MVP Ji'Ayir Brown, whose rookie season ended with a loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII.

To contact Donnie, drop an email at dcollins@scrantontimes.com, or send him a message on Twitter @PennStateTT.

Using Centers in the Classroom with Rachel from Uniquely Upper

Using Centers in the Classroom with Rachel from Uniquely Upper

Centers, also known as learning stations, offer a structured approach to self-directed learning activities in the classroom. In today’s episode, Rachel from Uniquely Upper highlights several benefits of incorporating centers, with one key advantage being the ability to provide differentiated instruction for all students. In a classroom with diverse learning styles, abilities, and interests, centers allow teachers to accommodate these differences effectively. Centers promote active engagement, independence, and social interaction, which fosters confidence, cooperation, and collaboration among students.

While traditionally seen as an elementary strategy, Rachel and I discuss how using centers in secondary ELA has the potential to individualize learning to meet the unique needs of today’s students.  By providing practice for specific skills through centers, teachers can better address student needs and fill in their learning gaps.

In this episode on incorporating centers in secondary ELA, Rachel highlights:

    • Centers provide a fun and engaging way for students to learn - getting students out of their seats and learning in a different way.
    • Centers allow teachers to differentiate tasks to meet individual needs.  Students can be working on different tasks (or different levels) at the same time making better use of class time and keeping all students engaged.
    • How to get started with centers with your class.

Get to Know Rachel from Uniquely Upper

Rachel is a busy mom of four who works full-time on creating grammar resources and providing teaching tips to help busy teachers. She taught for over 10 years before stepping out of the classroom full-time. She spent 2 of those years as an ELA interventionist for upper elementary, where she worked with students and teachers to bridge learning gaps.

Rachel's passion for teaching grammar began when she recognized her students' struggles with skill mastery early on in her teaching career. Year after year, students seem to struggle with grasping the many skills within the grammar realm. This passion was amped up when her daughter (10th grade at the time) expressed concern about not knowing how to identify the various parts of speech.  She recognizes the importance of bringing change that helps teachers and students. Through her resources and tips, Rachel hopes to bridge the gap between learning and time.

My friend, best-selling author, speaker, TV show host and guest on Life Altering Events Mel Robbins, often says excuses will always be there for you. Opportunity won’t. I want you to be honest here - Have you ever said “Someday I going to do whatever” or “In a perfect world I would be X.” Of course you have but most of us stay stuck. Opportunity presents itself to everyone. But not everyone sees or acts upon the opportunity. Why? Too much effort, too expensive, no time, too busy, I grew up in a small town that didn’t have many opportunities, the list goes on and on. My guest today is Tony Vitrano who saw an opportunity to improve the experience of attending major events. He coordinates events like the Olympic Games, Super Bowls, The Daytona 500, Think about all the moving parts that are required to coordinate these events. I can’t even imagine the complexity, can you? Well we are about to find out. Tony is here today to share his experience with us.

When your energy vibrates at a frequency that is in direct alignment with what the universe has been attempting to deliver your entire life, you begin to live in the flow and true miracles start to happen. ~ Penache Desai There are many perceived complexities and shiny distractions around us. These have caused us to lose touch with the principles of harmony and unity in nature and our higher spiritual relationships. Many ancient cultures understood the basics and built their life structure and philosophies around them. They recognized there were energy centers within the human body making up a basic integrated system that was intermixed with the earth and sky energies. Each energy center receives, processes and transmits information currents between the body and the outside world. As the currents move, they are set up to be energetically balanced but can become out of balance. Each energy center is unique. 080 Lyme Disease Treatments At Envita Medical

080 Lyme Disease Treatments At Envita Medical

In this episode, Aaron and Sarah talk about the primary treatments used at Envita Medical for treating neurological Lyme disease. Sarah went to treatment in 2013 for late-stage neurological Lyme disease and Envita saved her life. After being reinfected in 2018 she returned and did a second round of treatment in 2019.

Segment 1 FIGHTING is a mindset!

~Patient Care Coordinators are a vital link between you and all your physicians. They keep tabs on you throughout your entire visit, make sure you are getting to your outside appointments. So many times throughout my years of battling chronic Lyme I would wish that someone could be in charge of me, give me advice, or help me make decisions, that is what the Patient Care Coordinators do for you, it is fantastic.

Click here to see more https://www.envita.com/about

~NMD's-Naturopathic Medical Doctor (integrative) Most of the physicians at Envita are Naturopathic Medical Doctors which is my favorite type of physician because they problem-solve with a wide variety of natural modalities.

~PTSD-I definitely battled PTSD while out at treatment for the 2nd time. It was prepared for the reality that I was leaving my family for 10 weeks and would be living in a hotel. I was even prepared for the intense Mon-Fri treatment schedule, but the emotional weight of being back at treatment, having my life once again be put on hold was and still is immense. I'm honestly still trying to figure it out.

Segment 2-HEALING always consists of choices

    ~Housing while at Envita Medical

If you fully implement all the protocols (outside) then you should in some way be prepared for it to be all-encompassing...and yet totally boring at the same time

    ~Ozone therapy

    ~Bemer PEMF Mat

~Hydrogen Peroxide IV-is an antiviral therapy that is especially helpful for Lyme patients due to co-viral infections. Envita uses a unique formula that is able to pass through the blood-brain barrier

~DMPS Chelation removes heavy metals from the body. Improves your ability to fight infection

~Glutathione push -IRAD is the neurological repair program that completely changed my life back in 2013. This time it didn't disappoint, after the 4th treatment I just felt like I could think on another level, I had a more executive function. The possible benefits of IRAD can be: Deeper delivery of the antibiotics Penetration into the central nervous system via insulin Helps infections that impact the nervous system

    • Detoxifies the liver
    • Immune Modulator
    • Potentiates the antibiotics to kill the infection

~Ketamine can help with resetting the neurological system, wiping it clean so that the synapsis connections can connect properly, it can be helpful with tremors, insomnia, depression, addiction.

~Exosome treatment-Exosomes are a subtype of membrane vesicle released from the endocytic compartment of live cells. They play an important role in endogenous cell-to-cell communication. Previously shown to be capable of traversing biological barriers and to naturally transport functional nucleic acids between cells, they potentially represent a novel and exciting drug delivery vehicle for the field of gene therapy. Existing delivery vehicles are limited by concerns regarding their safety, toxicity, and efficacy. In contrast, exosomes, as a natural cell-derived nanocarrier, are immunologically inert if purified from a compatible cell source and possess an intrinsic ability to cross biological barriers. Already utilized in a number of clinical trials, exosomes appear to be well-tolerated, even following repeat administration

075 Using Meditation and Emotional Intelligence to Transform Trauma!

075 Using Meditation and Emotional Intelligence to Transform Trauma!

In this episode you will learn:

    • Enneagrams-A framework-A developmental map for understanding the world and how it works. But also how to understand our personalities.
    • Found to be one of the most powerful systems for transformation.
    • Recognizing habitualized ways of thinking and being.
    • Emotions are a reactive and outward reaction to what is going on.
    • Feelings are the internal chemical and neurological reactions that are connected to the body. You can be “highly emotional” and have no idea what you are actually feeling internally.
    • It takes 15 seconds to imprint something positive onto our psyche. Negative feelings imprint immediately, it is easy to dismiss the good feelings and hold onto the negative ones. Don’t do that anymore:)
    • Heart-Gives you the ability to relate. Take the pulse of the room, the energy within with an awareness of the energy of others. It gives you the ability to feel fast, without thinking deeply.
Do you know the difference between your feelings and your emotions? Is there a difference? Does it really matter? Well, it does. Here’s why, if you don’t want to be controlled by negative feelings. Or maybe a chronic illness is controlling a vast amount of your time, energy and money and you need to find a healthy way to deal with ongoing losses, grief, and PTSD. Whatever the reason for your attunement into this subject of emotional intelligence, awareness, and overcoming trauma, you will not be disappointed. Because Christy Kennedy lays out a path towards understanding your internal centers of intelligence that are accessible to everyone through the Head, Heart, and Gut.    So back to my original question, can you articulate the difference between feelings and emotions?    So glad you asked! For starters, FEELINGS are internal and EMOTIONS are external.  Your thoughts create your feelings and your feelings create your emotions. Your feelings are the internal chemical and neurological reactions that are connected to the body. And your emotions are the external expression of those feelings. The cart before the horse. Or said another way, your thoughts trigger a feeling, and that feeling causes emotion and those emotions often unconsciously drive our external mood and behaviors.    That is why you can be “highly emotional” and have no idea what you are actually feeling internally. Kennedy shares with us in this interview her personal recovery story through cancer and the meditative practice she uses daily.  You can’t create a new reality or say a healthy reality (since that is what we are all going for over here) by holding onto the negative emotions of your past. That is like driving around town with your right foot on the gas and your left foot on the brakes. It is a terrible use of energy and very ineffective.      Sponsored by: Envita Medical   Envita Medical 1-866-830-4576   "Envita saved my life. They stopped the immense suffering. 074 Tracking Your Symptoms & Medical Records

Taking control of your health just got a little easier. And in the world of chronic Lyme disease, every piece of the puzzle is important in managing the craziness of symptoms, medications, and endless appointments. I invited Jordan Ray to share her journey through Chiari Malformation a Serious Neurological Disorder in which the brain tissue extends into the spinal canal, changing the trajectory of her life at 17 years old. Through her surgery and ongoing recovery, she battles extreme migraines and ongoing health complications, but she also channeled that trauma into creating what I think is a phenomenal tool for tracking your medical life in an organized and beneficial way.    In this episode you will learn:

    • The value of tracking your symptoms for records and diagnosis
    • Overcoming short term memory loss through record keeping
    • Overcoming the shame of being broken
    • When dedication is no longer enough because your body has changed
    • Not blaming yourself for your illness
    • Managing symptoms and appointments
    • Winning the mental battle is moment by moment, thought by thought

073 Lyme Southern Belle- I'm Still UNDEFEATED with Jessica Donaldson

Welcome Ya’ll! I’m Jessica Donaldson, Lyme Southern Belle.

In this episode we talk about:

    • Losing hope (Orphan) and finding your inner Warrior
    • Trust vs hope
    • The reality of suicide in the Lyme community
    • Push yourself to be better
    • Be an information junkie
    • Whole body wellness
    • Get out of "the pit"
    • It's ok to be sad
    • It's ok to be sick & happy
    • Writing as therapy

I'm searching for the words to try to explain my journey fighting Lyme Disease and all that go along with this life-altering diagnosis.

In 2013 I was diagnosed with late stage neurological Lyme disease. The tests showed that I was undiagnosed for over 7 years. The crazy thing is that Lyme can mimic and even cause Lymphoma so all those years I spent treating something that was caused by my Lyme disease, but allowed the root disease to spread and damage my own body over those years.

I’m not one to back down. I beat Lyme Disease once. So, as far as I can tell I have the undefeated record… NOT Lyme Disease.

In the meantime, I want to raise awareness about this disease and what it truly does to someone. I have started working with several Lyme Awareness Non-Profit Organizations. And I cannot wait to see what all we can accomplish TOGETHER to help the suffering in our Lyme Disease, Chronic Pain and Chronic Illness communities. I hope this blog inspires you to explore new mindsets, healing tools and more than anything…I hope that this is that beacon of light in the distance letting you know that you are not alone, and that it does get better.Feel free to leave a comment or follow me on social media!
