The Result of Rescue: Reconciliation [Romans 14]

The Result of Rescue: Reconciliation [Romans 14]

    Romans 5: 5-11 // Tom Nelson

What have we been rescued for? Paul’s good news answer in our text today is God rescued us for friendship. Paul gives three life-giving implications of God befriending us. As God’s friend, we are lavishly loved, we are sacrificially loved and we are securely loved. Paul is saying when it comes to our friendship with God there is extravagant love, lavished on us, poured out on us in unbounded generosity and in us by God through the Holy Spirit.

What Does the Bibe Say About Husbands #2?

What Does the Bibe Say About Husbands #2?

In this episode we continue our discussion of husbands by noting that the husband's love for his wife is unbreakable because it is God who established the marriage. We then move to how the Bible describes one's love for his wife as a submitting love, contrary to how many view the husband's relationship to her today. We talk about the comparison that is made with the Lord's relationship with His church. Much is said about the husband being the head of the wife and we look at passages that teach this and what they mean. As God instituted marriage, it is described as a body. We talk about this concept. We close out this episode with a discussion of why the husband is said to be the head of the wife.  We briefly note what some modern women want to change in the marriage relationship. Take about 30-minutes to listen in on our discussion. Have your Bible handy so you can verify what we are saying. There is a transcript of this Buzzsprout episode provided for your convenience.

Knowing and following His Word | Psalm 119:9-16

Knowing and following His Word | Psalm 119:9-16
The importance of storing up the Word of God in a biblically illiterate and increasingly post-Christian society/culture. Allowing the Word of God to be our moral compass on every issue. Never straying away from the reliability, truth, and trustworthiness that the Bible affords. Cherishing the privilege and eternal priceless value of the Word of God, laying our treasure and hope in heaven.

Like A Prayer - Madonna (Review)

Like A Prayer - Madonna (Review)

We're talking about Madonna's 1989 confessional album Like A Prayer, which turns up on the 2020 Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums list at #330.

How does the Queen of Pop's fourth studio album hold up 30+ years after it was released?

Record Roulette host Sonya Walton was sweating bullets - she loved it as a teenager, but lots of stuff we loved as teenagers are terrible now. Did she have to worry? You have peak 1980s Madonna pissing off the Catholic Church, plus deeply personal stories about spousal abuse, crumbling family ties and more packaged with exceptionally listenable pop music and the occasional shred on the guitar from the one and only Prince. What's not to love?

Record Roulette co-hosts Eamon O’Flynn, Nathan Smith and Sonya Walton are joined by special guest Mike Pereira of the Mid-Credit Scene Podcast to discuss.

Trust, honesty, and vulnerability are definitely required to get to the real good stuff of intimacy, sex, fun, and some lovely surprises along the way.

    Three things to do instead!
    1. Plan together
