    Austin Henry, Blue Springs Childrens

    Austin Henry, Blue Springs Childrens
Welcome to the Watching World Podcast with Les Norman. In this episode, we chat with Austin Henry about serving in the church. Austin Henry is the Children’s Ministry Leader at Abundant Life Blue Springs. As a child, he first felt the pull toward ministry after visiting a church Christmas production in Tulsa. It wasn't long before serving became a regular part of his life. He grew up in a family that actively served in the church. Looking back, some of his favorite memories were of his siblings and parents serving on Sundays together. Volunteering with his family also gave him a behind-the-scenes look at ministry that prepared him for his work today. If you're interested in ministry but you feel like you're too young or aren’t sure how to get plugged in, Austin encourages you to go to God. Ask him to use you to the best of your ability for His glory. He will! He’ll take you to places that you’ll never believe. How to Balance Multiple Ministries in One Church

How to Balance Multiple Ministries in One Church

Today we are discussing the  challenges and solutions from leading multiple ministries at one church.  Youth pastors, notoriously, have to wear multiple hats within their youth ministry from being the event planner for themed nights, to being the janitor after midweek service, to being a counselor working two students through a disagreement; but sometimes, it's just more than just wearing different hats, it's having different JOBS within the church.  Join us for this episode where we take a look at some of the problems and solutions that can come with leading multiple ministries.

Episode 144: "What Should We Make of Rachel Held Evans' Children's Book?" A Discussion with Elizabeth Urbanowicz

Episode 144: "What Should We Make of Rachel Held Evans' Children's Book?" A Discussion with Elizabeth Urbanowicz

There’s little chance that we are able to discern biblical truth from the spirit of the times until our roots go deep through washing and delighting ourselves each and every day in the Word of God. Sadly, many of those called to nurture children and teens in the faith today are misleading the young by never faithfully teaching the truths of God’s Word. And without a knowledge of the truth, the enemies lies are more easily believed. Even what seems like an innocent Christian children’s book can put kids on a fast road away from the true Christian faith. That’s why I’m chatting today with Elizabeth Urbanowicz about how to train our kids in biblical discernment, on this episode of Youth Culture Matters.

#056: What To Do When Parents Come To Church: The Drop-Off Parent

In the new series What To Do When Parents Come To Church, Elisabeth and Jeremy flip the conversation from the last series, What To Do When People Leave. What do church leaders do when parents drop by? What about when they drop in? This three-part series gives you quick and easy tips that help you learn how to connect with the different types of parents. In this episode, you'll learn about the Drop-Off Parent and four ideas to best relate to them.

#055: When *Church Leaders* Need To Leave Their Church

#055: When *Church Leaders* Need To Leave Their Church

In the final episode of What To Do When People *Leave* series, Elisabeth and Jeremy answer a question that church leaders entertain at some point during their duration of ministry...When is it time to leave work for this particular church?  Because each circumstance is unique and specialized for each person, they offer four markers that help leaders identify if they are ready to transition.

#054: What To Do When *Staff Members* Leave Your Church

#054: What To Do When *Staff Members* Leave Your Church

Part of working in Family Ministry means you work alongside other staff members (paid or volunteer). So when one of them leaves, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the exit, there are always social dynamics at play. For example, certain families have lost a friend, and responsibilities are left open-ended. So in today's episode from the What To Do When People *Leave* series, Elisabeth and Jeremy Lee give church leaders four pieces of advice to equip them with the soft skills needed to walk through the transition with ease.

#053: What To Do When *Volunteers* Leave Your Church

#053: What To Do When *Volunteers* Leave Your Church

In the second episode of What To Do When People Leave Your Church, Elisabeth and Jeremy cover a lot of ground discussing the moment that many church leaders dread...when a volunteer says they're leaving. Is it possible to create a positive experience from the transition for all parties involved? They believe it's realistically possible with these four tips. From learning how to say thank you to starts and stops, they give you sound practical advice to create a healthy, collaborative culture that honors the concept of "leaving well." You'll leave with a vision on how to treat volunteers in such as way that they'll be lining up at the door.
