Episode 7 | Domenic Ruso | How History Puts Everything Into Context

This episode gets into the academic conversation as Andrew and Domenic dive into some meaty topics of Scripture based on Domenic’s expertise in church history in order to help us untangle Scripture for ourselves.

Domenic Ruso is the founding pastor of 180 Church in Laval and most recently finished his Ph.D. in Historical Theology at Trinity College, University of Toronto. Born and raised in Montreal, Dom's early faith experiences came from going to a Roman Catholic Church and later experiencing an added understanding of his faith within a Protestant context.  Having ministered in other provinces he returned and founded a Church in Quebec. Domenic has a thorough understanding of the challenges of a faith community in the Quebec context, and also partners with other churches who have a deep love for the province of Quebec and a desire to teach and reach people for Christ.

Episode 6 | Charles Price | Three Questions to Ask When Studying the Bible

Episode 6 | Charles Price | Three Questions to Ask When Studying the Bible

How do we read the Scriptures for all they are worth? For Charles Price, it is a lifetime of slow, thoughtful reading of the Bible. By understanding that the Bible is true, but asking how it points us to THE truth, Jesus himself, the text becomes more alive and applicable no matter where you are in your journey.

Charles has preached in over 100 countries on every continent and is the author of 8 books, some of which have been translated into a variety of languages. Originally from England, he was the Principal of Capernwray Bible school in the North of England for many years. Charles was Lead Pastor with The Peoples Church in Toronto, from 2001 to 2016. The weekly congregation doubled to over 4,000 attending each Sunday during his time there.

Episode 3 | Andrew Ollerton | The Bible: One Big Story

Episode 3 | Andrew Ollerton | The Bible: One Big Story

The upheaval of our times can leave us feeling bewildered and wondering where to turn for trustworthy guidance. As unlikely as it may seem, could the Bible provide ancient wisdom that helps us flourish today?

In this episode we dive into the complexity of the Bible and how to start untangling it so that we can understand it better for ourselves. Andrew Ollerton shares his passion for Scripture, where this started for him, and how he approaches reading it for himself in terms of routines and habits we can all try out. We ask the question, if you’re feeling intimidated by the Bible, where do you start? Andrew also shares with us how the Bible is one big story with a thread that runs through from beginning to end.

Dr. Andrew Ollerton is a theologian, pastor and popular communicator who makes complex ideas simple and relevant. He works with the Bible Society and developed The Bible Course, an eight-session guide to the big story of the Bible for small groups.

Andrew is married to Charlotte and they have three kids, two fish, a snake and a dog.

Episode 2 | Vijay Krishnan: Faith is Caught, Not Taught

Episode 2 | Vijay Krishnan: Faith is Caught, Not Taught

Vijay is a pastor in the Toronto area who started out his career in marketing, before feeling the pull towards church leadership. He loves to communicate about Jesus in clear language to skeptical people. In this episode he discusses his own influences in discovering the Bible for himself, how he reads it regularly, and his approach to teaching it to others.

Vijay Krishnan is the Lead Pastor at The Well. Vijay and his wife Jennifer were part of the group who “planted” The Well in 2005 and in 2009, he left his career in business to join the pastoral staff.

Growing up as a pastor’s kid, the church was always a big part of Vijay’s life. However, during his university years and subsequent corporate work experience, he discovered that for most people the church was an obstruction (not a pathway) to finding God. There were countless stories of individuals who were sincerely seeking God but encountered hypocrisy, hurt, irrelevance and boredom. Years later, when God opened a door for Vijay and his family to plant a church (The Well), they jumped at the opportunity.

Episode 1 | Rick Tobias: Courage in Suffering

Episode 1 | Rick Tobias: Courage in Suffering

This is a very special interview with Dr. Rick Tobias being interviewed by his friend Rev. Dr. Andrew Stirling. It may very well be the last one he is ever able to give. He has been fighting with illness for a long time and is now nearing the end of his time on earth, according to his medical team. We are so grateful for a look into what Scripture means to his life, how Jesus has impacted him over many years, and how he illuminates God’s heart for the broken, the needy, the messy, and the least of these. May his words lead us all to live more in love with the God that Scripture reveals! It is an honour to untangle Scripture with Dr. Rick Tobias.
