    The 'D' Word

    The 'D' Word

In today's podcast, we share a personal story about divorce and remarriage. A lot of people in the church get so legalistic about this topic, and they forget about God's grace and how He moves in our lives - even through our bad decisions. We need to do better at supporting people in bad marriages, and get back to seeking God's will in our lives.

Ever had a good laugh over a car-parking debacle? Well, join us as we look back on a humorous incident while drawing comparisons between the buttoned-up newsroom attitude and our laid-back atmosphere. Along with our special guest, Joe Gallagher, we examine the shifting norms in broadcasting, appreciating the relaxed vibe of podcasting that feels like a friendly chat.

In the concluding chapter of our conversation, we venture into a thoughtful analysis of today's culture and its impact on spirituality. Coping with cultural complexities, we share an inspiring story of Joshua Charles, a convert who embraced the Church during Easter 2019. We explore the power of the traditional Latin Mass within Catholicism and examine the concept of religious discrimination through the lens of recent Google's Pride events. Tune in to our lively discussion on controversial issues, where we highlight Christian empathy and our emotional responses to these issues. An engaging conversation awaits you, one that will certainly provoke thoughts and offer fresh perspectives.

The Coming Deception: Aliens, AI, & Apocalypses - w/ Daniel O'Connor

The Coming Deception: Aliens, AI, & Apocalypses - w/ Daniel O'Connor

Are aliens and the Catholic faith mutually exclusive? Guest Daniel O'Connor joins us to shed light on this fascinating interplay, examining why extraterrestrial beings cannot exist due to the principles and teachings of Catholicism. Daniel's in-depth understanding, stemming from his forthcoming book on the subject, illuminates how the Catholic Catechism asserts that only humans can know and love God.

We journey further down the rabbit hole, venturing into areas that link AI, deception, and potential apocalyptic scenarios. Unravel the patterns of the unholy alliance between Lucifer and the elite, and explore how our perceptions may be manipulated by artificial intelligence. We also take a hard look at world events that seem to align with an agenda transcending the Catholic Church and the chilling link between AI and paganism.

In our final stretch, we delve into the aftermath of the chastisements on the Church's core, the protection the remnant will have during the reign of the Antichrist, and the significance of amassing treasures in Heaven. It's an eye-opening discourse on aliens, AI, and the Catholic perspective that you won't want to miss.

Finally, we discuss examples of docility and submissiveness in the lives of Mary and the saints, the ideal dynamic between a husband and wife, and the importance of men actively cherishing their wives. Our conversation also delves into the romantic love between Pietro and Gianna Molla, Zellie and Louis Martin, and how Catholics have the best love life of any group. Avoiding Babylon was started during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. During these difficult and dark days, when most of us were isolated from family, friends, our parishes, and even the Sacraments themselves, this channel was started as a statement of standing against the tyrannical mandates that many of us were living under. Since those early days, this channel has morphed into an amazing community of friends…no…more than friends…Christian brothers and sisters…who have grown in joy and charity.

Avoiding Babylon does not criticize the hierarchy or institutional Church, especially Pope Francis. We recognize there is an unprecedented crisis in the Church, but we feel that there are other shows that address these issues that are more qualified than us. Instead, we try to remind ourselves and those who enjoy the channel that being Catholic is a joyful and exciting experience. We seek true Catholic fraternity and eutrapelia with other Catholics who, like us, are doing their best to live out their vocation with the help of God’s Grace. Above all, we try to bring humor and joy to the craziness of this fallen world, for as Hillaire Belloc has famously said:

“Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine,
There’s always laughter and good red wine.
At least I’ve always found it so.

    Benedicamus Domino!”

    Men, Let's Chat

    Men, Let's Chat

Today's Episode is for the men. The man's role is to lead his wife and family closer to Christ, love his wife as Christ loves the church, sacrificing himself for her, as Christ sacrificed Himself for us. It's a tall order, are you fulfilling that role as a husband?

"The man who santifies his wife understand that this is his divinely ordained responsibility...Is my wife more like Christ because she is married to me? Or is she like christ IN SPITE of me? Ha she shrunk from his likeness because of me? Do I sanctify her or hold her back? Is she a better woman because she is married to me?" R. Kent Hughes

Traversing the Ancient World & the Legacy of Christianity w/ Tom Holland

Traversing the Ancient World & the Legacy of Christianity w/ Tom Holland

Growing up in religious homes, Tom Holland and Anthony have always been fascinated by ancient religious stories and civilizations like Greek mythology, the Roman Empire, and Hebrew Scriptures. They often found these tales to be more enthralling and powerful than the Christian stories they were raised on, and they often perceived Christianity as drab and dreary compared to the vibrant imagery of Greece and Rome. Join them as they reflect on their experiences and discuss the impact of these ancient stories on their lives.

The symbolism and relevance of crucifixion in modern times is also something they explore in this conversation, especially in light of the ISIS crucifixions targeting Christians and Yazidis. Tom shares his harrowing experience traveling to Sinjar, a war zone that had just been recaptured by the Kurds, revealing the existential abyss it opened for him when faced with the atrocities committed there. Listen in as they discuss the power of the crucifixion symbol and its impact on their understanding of the Christian story.

Lastly, Tom and Anthony dive into the role of Christianity in paving the way for the acknowledgment of equal dignity between the sexes. They examine the deep biological reasons why men have been in control for so long and how Christianity helped create a sense of dignity for both men and women. Tracing the development of Christian teachings on marriage, they also explore the Church's role in creating the ideal of romantic love and the demanding standards it imposes on men. Don't miss their engaging discussion on how the church has influenced gender equality throughout history.
