Little Strength Big God with Debbie W. Wilson

On this episode of Flourish-Meant, we delve into the topic of finding strength and opportunities in challenging situations. Our guest, Debbie W. Wilson, shares her personal experiences as a mother and her unexpected role in heading up a decorating committee for her church. We explore the story of Deborah and Barak from the Bible and the need for support in difficult times. We discuss how our view of God can greatly impact how we face our problems, and how shifting our focus from ourselves to God can lead to strength and growth. We are joined by Debbie W. Wilson, an ordinary woman serving an extraordinary God, with 24 years of experience as a former Christian counselor and bible teacher. Debbie shares her personal connection to the topic of needing a big God, drawing parallels to Moses and his journey of self-doubt. We explore the significance of knowing who God is and how seeking reassurance from Him can transform our faith. We also touch on the story of Gideon and the power of obeying God and taking the next steps. Our guest shares her own journey of shedding burdens and finding rest in Jesus, emphasizing the importance of trusting in His strength rather than relying on our own. We discuss the importance of aligning our image of God with the reality of His greatness, and how studying Bible stories can provide strength and guidance for desperate times. The episode concludes with a personal story of perseverance, reminding listeners to not give up, even in the face of challenges and doubt. We explore the concept of a "cloud of witnesses" as a source of encouragement from Hebrews 12. Tune in to this episode of Flourish-Meant for stories, insights, and practical advice on finding strength in a big God when faced with overwhelming circumstances.

Debbie W. Wilson is an ordinary woman serving an extraordinary God. Drawing from her walk with Christ, twenty-four years as a former Christian counselor, and decades as a Bible teacher, Debbie writes and speaks to connect sojourners to the heart of Christ.

Debbie W. Wilson, a senior in college, initially had no desire to go into ministry. However, after attending a conference and feeling God's calling, she reluctantly applied for a position in International Student Ministry. Wrestling with self-doubt and believing she was not the right fit, Debbie eventually joined the ministry and grew in her faith. Through this experience, she discovered that God chooses individuals not based on their qualifications, but as an opportunity for personal growth and reliance on Him. Despite continually feeling inadequate when faced with God's calling, Debbie has learned to trust in His strength and has embraced her love for ministry.

In this episode we cover the following topics:

      - Shedding anything that is holding someone back, not necessarily sin
      - Personal experience of wanting to make everyone happy and realizing the need to give the burden to the Lord

Recovering From An Open Marriage | Ep. 413

Recovering From An Open Marriage | Ep. 413

In this episode Dr. Kim and Chrstina talk about how to recover from an open marriage.

Dr. Kim shares about what an open marriage is, what God says, and how to recover from this kind of sexual baggage.

We encourage you to not skip this episode even if that’s not your story. We are facing a culture where open marriages may very well become more common and sexual boundaries are being disregarded. Tune it so you can learn and better understand how to help people who may face this.

And here is what we know is true: we all have experienced some kind of betrayal sexually in our marriage because every one sins sexually whether it’s lust, a look or thought that lasted too long, porn, or flirting, on an outright affair or open marriage. So we can all gain some wisdom from this conversation.

*We do want to mention as a disclaimer we do talk about some hard things in this episode. It is not an episode you want to listen to around children. Also, we do briefly mention sexual abuse so we want to give that trigger warning for anyone who has experienced that.

We pray this episode is helpful to you and your marriage.
