    En 1999 lorsque Prince rejoint Arista , la maison de disque de Clive Davis a qui
    l’on doit le retour triomphant de Santana; et travaille avec Any di Franco,
    Chuch D, Eve, Gwen Stefani, et même Sheryl Crow, cela ressemble à ce que Prince est
    capable d’appeler une réponse à ceux qui lui reprochent d'agir en indépendant, et
    totalement isolé des autres artistes . Mais les années 1990 qui avaient débuté de
    manières triomphantes, vont se clôturer sur un relatif échec, et un des disques
    qui sera perçu à l’époque comme l’un des plus mauvais de sa carrière.
    Heureusement, sur scène, et lors de ses passages TV, Prince va continuer de
    s’imposer comme le plus grand, et peut être sait il déjà que ceci n’est que le
    trait d’union avec le nouveau millénaire qui sera lumineux et riche en couleur.

    Bryonn Bain is a prison activist, artist, scholar, and author of four books including The Ugly Side of Beautiful: Rethinking Race and Prisons in America (Third World Press) — currently banned in Texas prisons. He is the Director of Prison Education Program at UCLA.
