As the story of the Bible unfolds, the expectation for a city of God—a new Jerusalem where Heaven and Earth will be fully united—continues to grow. Yet the gospel authors seem to think this new Jerusalem is most fully realized in Jesus himself. So if Jesus is the new Jerusalem, what’s his relationship with the physical city of Jerusalem? In this episode we will be exploring the topic of integrity, and how a life of integrity cannot help but shine brightly for God in a world filled with darkness.

Yeshua stated it this way:

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

Integrity is not just doing the right thing when no one is around, but doing the right thing in the sight of others even if it is the unpopular or undesirable course of action. The motivation for this type of example is not to become the center of attention, but to simply do the right thing even if the right thing to do is sometimes messy. The reality is that the truth of God can’t be contained when you are operating with integrity. As you do so, your good works make a real difference as they shine into the lives around you.

Then, we watch the trailer for season 3 of Stranger Things and try to stay interested. Later, the boys sit down to watch the truly boring cop drama, City on a Hill. Discussions include: Sephiroth vs Shadow the Hedgehog, mysterious crates, alcoholic catheters and Kumite Junior Edition.

Jesus says to his disciples, "You are the light of the world." What role do his disciples have in the world? I. The Declaration, v14a. II. The Illustrations, vv14b-15. III. The Exhortation, v16a. IV. The Motivation, v16b.

God has made all of us with the glorious purpose of reflecting Him. When we reject God, we not only become something other than what He intended, the world becomes an even darker, decaying place.
