Now May Be The Best Time to Declutter

****This is a repeat of a podcast from earlier this year but I thought it was very valuable to share again as we are all at home and it's probably a good time to clear up our clutter.****

How has clutter impacted your life? It’s a very controversial subject, especially with people at both ends of the spectrum – hoarders & obsessive cleaners. I am not a hoarder but do tend to be on that side of the middle point.

The article I quote from in the UC Berkeley Wellness Letter, included an interesting Q&A with Michael Tompkins, Ph.D. at UC Berkeley about clutter which I go through in the podcast. Tompkins talks about other issues that go along with large amounts of clutter – e.g. allergens and mold in areas that can’t or haven’t been cleaned in awhile. He also mentions the risk of tripping over the clutter and social isolation.

There are also some suggestions on how to go about decluttering which were helpful and that I have actually tried myself. Needless to say I also make quite a few comments during the podcast on my experience (past and current) with clutter and clean obsessions.

Let me know in the comments what your experience with clutter has been. They also mention Marie Kondo’s book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. You can get your own copy on Amazon at the link above.

Purge To Surge - The "Score Feeling" from letting go.

Hoarding is something we hear about on the extreme level, but breaking it down into all the layers we find out that it's not just about those extremes and physical content BUT about the energy the material items can hold and steal from us.

A dress in the back of your closet can anchor you to a past that isn't allowing you to move forward. A tea cup or box of dishes that once belonged to a loved one who passed away that you never use can be taking up more than storage space but rather weighing you down.

During this episode we explore what the "things" around us really mean and do we need to actually physically have them to enjoy their past experience. Have the material items served their purpose?

This show is all about the surge of the purge! Let's have an energetic yard sale if you will, an emotional donation. Perhaps the items in your very posession could be the gem, the score... that will change someone's life or least make their day.

The cycle, the karma, the law of reciprocity.
