    Subscriber-only episode

Camp counselors Jackie and Greg talk about Jack Hill's COFFY from 1973. Topics of discussion include the film's place in the blaxploitation subgenre, Pam Grier's tough-as-nails heroine, its influence on Quentin Tarantino, and why it's still a startling piece of filmmaking over 50 years later.

The monthly S'mores series is an offshoot from our main series, where Jackie and Greg explore films from the fringes of cinema, encompassing underground, experimental, cult, camp, genre, horror, and B-movies. S'mores episodes are unlocked by becoming either a Patron or Friend of the Show (see below). These episodes are released on the last Tuesday of each month.

    DRR SHOW 44

    DRR SHOW 44
Show der neuen Zeitrechnung.

A Casual History of Blaxploitation - Laser Time #357

Let's take a trip back to the early 1970s, that brief time when Hollywood turned over the reigns to predominately Black casts and crews. Blaxplotation movie have a complicated history, but for those cinephiles out there who enjoy uncompromisingly violent, crime-ridden tales scored with some of the best soundtracks ever made, there are more than a few standout films worth discussing and discovering. Get ready for cops, pimps, kung-fu hookers, and so very much more!

    #283: Coffy - Die Raubkatze (1973) & Black Dynamite (2009)

    07. The Seven Brand-Building Principles - Denise Lee Yohn

We’re going to have Denise Lee Yohn on today. She is a brand building expert. She’s involved in quite a bit of activity in the branding strategy world. She’s constantly on Fox Business. I’ve actually seen her on Fox Business in the discussions with the Varney guy. And what really makes this interesting is that this branding business has become something we have to deal with a lot now with our local clients and, to me, the big issue is or the big story here is to become somewhat elegant in the way that you present yourself, not overcomplicate it. Everybody’s got so many buttons and bells and knobs and they have to put 15 different things into one page these days to try and get their explanation out to you where in all reality, we need to think about strategy of how do we have a really clean and efficient brand that brings people through the process. We do some other discussions in this podcast about some of the things that was on my mind about just kind of life and philosophies so enjoy. Here is Denise.
