    Elettra Wiedemann - How did the model become a farmer?
    Elettra Wiedemann was a high-class fashion-model for over a decade. She worked with some of the most renowned photographers and travelled the world for countless shootings and shows. Her eye for style and design, her interest in healthy and delicious food and her wish, to get those meals down on the plate in a decent amount of time, led her to her successful food-blog “Impatient foodie”, for which she also wrote two cook-books. Elettra studied Biomedicine, Biosciences and Society at the London School of Economics and wrote her dissertation about Vertical Farming, a future solution for feeding urban citizens. She also launched a pop-up restaurant and hosted her own cooking-show with prominent guests. Her interest in food-production and sustainability lead her to her current transformation as Executive Director of Mama Farm, a Long-Island based community supported agriculture (CSA), founded by Elettra’s mother Isabella Rosselini. Here, she brings her talents and experience together, supports her community with organic food, develops meaningful new projects and is creating a beautiful live together with her husband and two sons. When I first met Elettra, I was fascinated by her quick and bright mind, the Coolness of a Manhattan-born and raised gal, her positive approach towards life and her great heart that was shining through everything she did or said. Much later, I learned, that Elettra was not only the daughter of famous actress Isabella Rosselini, but also the granddaughter of Ingrid Bergmann and Roberto Rossellini. And I couldn’t help but wonder, how with this heritage, she became such a down-to-earth person who would rather talk about possible solutions for the climate crisis then about fashion, fame and her family. I wanted to know, how Elettra went from her demanding and exciting time in front of the camera to this nature-based way of living. We talk about her childhood in Manhattan and how her strong family roots supported her, when she was diagnosed with scoliosis as a young girl and had to wear a back brace for all her teenage years. Elettra also explains, why she claimed to be more than just a daughter or granddaughter. We cover many subjects, from future solutions to the climate crisis, the #MeToo movement, the TV show Sex and the City and the spiritual practices Elettra found to keep her heart and mind centered.

    Nurturing our bodies and souls: Talking to Abel Pearson of Glasbren

    How can we feed our bodies and our souls?  Abel Pearson, founder of Glasbren community supported agriculture farm in West Wales shared his  connection to the land, his spiritual practice - and his re-visioning of community, food and spirit.   

    Abel Pearson is a poet, peasant farmer, permaculture educator & activist, tending soil in West Wales and listening for the stories we need to build community and culture, restore health and breathe new life into our connection to land, food and seed. He is the founder of Glasbren, a non-profit social enterprise working to reimagine our food systems, rewild the way we eat, live and grow food and regenerate our communites, the people that live in them and the land we depend on. Glasbren is a Community Supported Agriculture scheme, offering it's members a weekly 'Share in the Harvest' veg box & a transparent relationship with where their food comes from, volunteer opportunities, courses and workshops. They also raise money for tree planting and support the local food bank through their Solidarity Fund.

    Abel is passionate about growing food, together, as a means to facilitate a collective shift to a radically ecological way of being and as a vehicle for social, ecological and cultural rebirth. He is a grower at Glasbren, but also teaches immersive experiences in permaculture, food growing and regenerative living, works with activists & Earth stewards to build a rooted connection to the Earth and is searching for authentic ritual spaces, passageways and the knowing to explore a truly indigenous connection to place.

    Nutrient Dense Foods on a Budget:  Community Supported Agriculture
    One of the best ways to get local, seasonal, and usually organic food is to become a member of a community supported agriculture program (CSA). Participant’s partner with farmers who want to provide locally grown, usually organic fruits and vegetables, sometimes flowers, breads, cheeses, all sorts of tasty foods in exchange for the members providing financial support before the season starts. Although CSAs are international, Kellie will discuss the benefits of CSA membership with her local farmer CSA partner Suzi Fry from Fry Family Farm. Community supported agriculture is the secret to getting the best foods and the best price.
