    What Seeds Are You Planting?

    What Seeds Are You Planting?
In this episode I talk about investing into others, planting good seeds, and thanking those around you. Not EVERYTHING always needs to be monetized, and we can all help each other and lift one another up in different ways. If it's a financial investment, a conversation, helping someone believe they are capable, and even the simple part of sharing a social media post. Every little bit helps when you have a small business, and sewing good seeds into others is a great place to start. You want to start your own podcast? 038 | 3 Ways To Edify People

It has been a while since I’ve done a quick, easy-to-apply episode, so today is the day! The Encourage Project is all about showing people what is possible – in work or through adversity, as examples. In this episode, I share another way to show people what is possible through the habit of edifying. It’s simple, it’s easy, and it takes very little time. The practice of edifying creates extraordinary possibility and has the potential to pay infinite dividends. Curious? Take a listen!

    Episode 21: Words Left Unspoken

    Episode 21: Words Left Unspoken

Oftentimes we find ourselves not sharing any sort of positive commentary. Whether it be a compliment, a comment letting someone know the impact they had on you, or simply letting someone know you relate with them and that they are not alone. Anything positive you may have to share with anyone is a great way to help put more positivity out into the world. Whether you share on social media or with your close family and friends, positive commentary is a way to connect with others and not let words go unspoken that can shed some light to someone else's life.

    Redefining Bougie

    Redefining Bougie

“You’re bougie.” Have you ever been on the receiving end of this statement?
Or perhaps you’ve made this statement to your friend.

I’ve been called the “bougie” friend for as long as I could remember.... And I didn’t like it. It sounded like a backhanded compliment.

Then I learnt what it meant. And I began to own it. Yeah, I’m the “bougie friend”. I got it from my momma. Her friends used to accuse her of “trying to sound white” just because she spoke standard English, which of course she was a stickler with me.

Speaking of my momma, this week we celebrate our first mother-daughter episode on the Crowned Opulence Podcast. I’m joined by my Mommy, Janette Carter, and my fellow podcaster-friend Joi Disroe and her adult daughter, Turquoise.

We’re redefining “bougie” and wearing the label with all our “bougie” attitude.

    We talk about:

    1. The original meaning of “bougie”
    2. The pretentious or wannabe connotations associated with “bouginess” in black culture
    3. How we are choosing to define “bougie” in our lives as goal-getting, dream-chasing queens and encouraging our fellow queens to embrace their “bougie” aspirations.

    This week’s Mimosa Special

    Strawberry Lemonade Mimosa

    • Champagne
    • Strawberry lemonade juice

Mix yourself a mimosa, tell a fellow “bougie” friend and tune in to the Crowned Opulence Podcast on your favorite podcast app.

CYOP #75 - How to Algorithm-Proof Your Marketing Efforts with Melissa Camilleri of the 21-Day Insta-Course

Today’s Tuesday Tips + Tricks episode is sponsored by Melissa Camilleri of Compliment and the 21-Day Insta-Course. If you listened to episode 72, which was the first episode in this sponsored series, you may remember Melissa as my guest interviewer.

As I mentioned on that show, she was actually one of my very first guests on the show in Season 1 and since that first interview she’s been growing her brand in other ways by teaching business owners how to share their story on Instagram through The 21-Day Insta-Course.

She was kind enough to come on the show today and talk about things like how we’re all going to be okay—even as Instagram rolls out the new algorithm, why she believes that building relationships should be at the core of any strategies we implement and so much more.

Not only that, Melissa is offering a really great deal on course registration. Those interested in taking the course can find all of the details at bit.ly/21DayInstaCourse and enter IMREADY, in all caps, at check out to get $25 off registration. The offer is only good through April 8, 2016, which is this Friday, so don’t wait too long if you want to get in on the next session of her course!
