129: How We Make It Work with My Husband, Rob Issa

129: How We Make It Work with My Husband, Rob Issa

This is it, this is the episode where you finally get to meet my husband, listeners! I’m so excited to introduce you to my better half, Rob Issa. I talk so much about him and he has gone through a lot as I’ve worked on my business and this podcast and now you get to hear directly from him. Rob and I talk about some of the individual struggles we faced on our own health journeys as well as how we navigate our marriage with having sometimes differing health goals. I know some of you wonder how your health decisions and journeys might affect your partners or families, and I believe Rob can shed some light on the best ways to support each other as well as how we worked through our own differences.

I encourage Rob to share some of how he has felt as he’s been with me through navigating my health journey and working hard to develop Wayza Health. He delves back into the struggles I had before even embarking on my business journey that led to where we are today and admits it hasn’t always been easy but that he always saw his job as just to be there for me and support me in whatever I needed to go through. Rob shares about his own unhealthy food journey and where he is now as well as how he views all the things we try together. Have there been conflicts? Of course there have been. Especially when we talk about how much my hatred of my body would affect him emotionally in the way I’d deflect his compliments. There’s a lot that we broach here, including our mutual challenge with meal planning, and almost everything comes down to communication. We need to talk to each other, we need to know how each other is feeling, and we need to keep that communication going. I love Rob to pieces and I’m so happy to share this very honest conversation with you all.

How to Mean What You Say and Listen for Depth with Geoff McLachlan

How to Mean What You Say and Listen for Depth with Geoff McLachlan
Your brain can only handle so much! No matter who you are or how you operate, no one has infinite capacity for their brain to do stuff. This is one example in conventional wisdom why Steve Jobs wore the same outfit every day; no mental energy spent on deciding what to wear to save that energy for more important decisions. Another example is, "Hey, how are you?" "Good, thanks, how about you?" "Doing great!" No depth, no meaning, no energy spent. This might be good. We can't spend all the energy on all the things all the time. Every "hey, how are ya" cannot be a deep dive on how a person REALLY is doing. But when we're ready for true understanding, we need to be prepared with time, energy, and resilience for the conversation, we can make true and meaningful connections. This doesn't have to be a deep dive, it can be as simple as asking one question, "Good job on that presentation!" "Thanks! Did anything stand out to you?" What will be learned is if something stuck with the listener or if it was a general "good job" without depth. This is very handy when we crank up our EQ to listen for what's said, what's not, and how the face and body communicates the rest of the message. You even have the ability to have EQ on retainer ready to launch once you notice something that seems irregular and then launch into understanding. Being able to fully communicate is an essential leadership skill. Being an effective communicator and effective leader are inextricably conjoined. Please join the No More Leadership BS team on the journey from superficial through deep conversation.

    46 - Who I am Becoming

    46 - Who I am Becoming

Cindy Esliger asks us to look at who we are becoming by reflecting on how far we’ve come. Who are we really when our facades and defenses are down? When we can answer that, Cindy says, we can look ahead and make the right choices about who we are becoming.

We are defined by the choices we’ve made so Cindy walks us through exploring what those choices have been. Our choices should be in alignment with where we want to be and what our strengths are. We can be thrown off course when we internalize critiques and let our insecurities prevent us from pursuing our purpose.

Cindy urges us to learn to take a compliment and not focus solely on critique. When we achieve great things, it’s okay to celebrate them. Letting ourselves feel capable and confident will help tear down the imposter syndrome that derails us on our path to becoming. Cindy offers three statements that fight imposter syndrome: 1) I am enough, 2) I worked hard for this, and 3) I make the most of opportunities before me. Become who you truly want to be with Cindy’s assistance.

    Is This Marketing?

    Is This Marketing?

One of the very most common struggles I hear is marketing. Like literally people use that word, as in, “My biggest struggle is marketing.”

Of course marketing is a lot lot lot of different elements, strategies, methods, systems… it’s actually what we do in our mastermind membership.

I teach simple marketing steps so you can fill your calendar with the right clients.

Between me teaching, and us helping each other with everyone’s zone of genius through member spotlights, we have all kinds of strategy sessions that really break it down, including, networking, SEO, reviews, preferred vendor lists, your online presence, referrals, affiliates, systems, mindset, pricing, branding, and time management, just to name a few.

One super simple element that you can go right into implementing today, may surprise you when I say it.

    Tell me, is it marketing?

    This element is giving compliments.

Yep, I said it’s super simple, and it is, it’s just something easily forgotten, or maybe even not done well.

Tune in to see how powerful this is.

Is this marketing? To me that’s a no brainer, you can make that call for yourself and your business, but I would say yes all day long.

So much of our every day interactions are actually marketing if we stay mindful and aware of it.

Hot tip/action item: give a compliment. Just do it. Definitely do it with your future, current, and past clients, but also make it a habit it your every day life and see how things change for the better. For you, of course, but also for those you interact with, and compliment.

Drop me an email at friends@letsbookclients.com and let me know how it goes!
