Stealing Oceans - "Stars on the Ceiling" - A Beer with Atlas 210

Stealing Oceans - "Stars on the Ceiling" - A Beer with Atlas 210

Listen to the new song "Stars on the Ceiling" by Stealing Oceans Feat. Scott Avett of The Avett Brothers as we talk to Brian Thompson, the mastermind behind Stealing Oceans.

He is also one of the masterminds behind brewing this blueberry beer with Shipyard Brewing Company that is based on a beer study by a German scientist about how music can change the composition of the beer as well as enhance the taste of the beer while listening to certain music. We and Total Wine & More loved the concept, so we drank it and Total Wines is selling it in all 250 stores.

Shout out to Brian from #StealingOceans and his team for providing the beer, the music, and all of the good times.

Sunday Paper | A Stout from Exhibit 'A' Brewing Company - A Beer with Atlas 202

Sunday Paper | A Stout from Exhibit 'A' Brewing Company - A Beer with Atlas 202

Ever wonder what the original Sunday Paper was called and when it first appeared? Spoiler, it wasn't this beer, but this imperial stout by Exhibit 'A' Brewing Company sure is an amazing follow-up.

"Come on guys, a stout in the summer?"

Yes. A stout on a hot day, believe it or not, is one of our favorite ways to strike up some cool conversation with our friends while having a cold one.

Also, if you stick around, you'll learn the guys' favorite Sunday Comics.  What are yours?

Ryeway to Heaven by Revolution Brewing Co. - A Beer with Atlas 194

Ryeway to Heaven by Revolution Brewing Co. - A Beer with Atlas 194

"Stairway to Heaven?" - A Little.
"Highway to Hell?" - Kind of.
    "Ryeway to Heaven?" - Yes.

This 15% beer comes from Chicago's very own Revolution Brewing. Tune into this episode to hear the resident Atlas Beer Nerds talk all about Led Zeppelin, ACDC, and WWE's "The Undertaker."

OH, AND WE ALMOST FORGOT! Brian talks a little bit about Rye.

You might be thinking to yourself, "Wow, that's quite the group of topics." Well, when you down a 15% Barrel Aged beer with your friends, the conversation tends to go "aw-rye."

The Best Hazy IPA in Arizona | Hop Chowda by Goldwater Brewing vs. False Promises by Fate Brewing - A Beer with Atlas 193

The Best Hazy IPA in Arizona | Hop Chowda by Goldwater Brewing vs. False Promises by Fate Brewing - A Beer with Atlas 193

One of our Travelers and her husband came down to our Arizona meet and greet about a month ago, and gave us a beer. While handing over Goldwater Brewing's Hazy IPA "Hop Chowda," they exclaimed that it was the "best Hazy IPA in Phoenix." During the same exchange, Dolan, one of our Brand Specialists, said "Really? Even better than Fate Brewing's "False Promises?" Brought to you by Traveling nurse, Heather Campbell and her husband, Tory Campbell, this is "Hop Chowda" vs. "False Promises." - The Battle of the Arizona Hazy IPAs. Who wins? Listen to find out as Rich and Brian, who have never had either beer, blind taste test them on this episode of "A Beer with Atlas." A friendly "Beef" between travelers and their agency. Jokes aside, shout out to Heather and Tory. They are super amazing people and we are so very thankful for their friendship and the beer. Keep killing it guys, we are enjoying all of the posts during your travel adventures.

    Synopsis:

Stare into the Void with your boys as Todd and Arie take this episode to celebrate the legacy of H.P Lovecraft, and the lyrical content of this week's featured band, by going sober!

The weird doesn't stop there, though! Todd will be channeling his inner Greek gods and goddesses out of the country while Arie plans to make his triumphant return to live music. What????

The boys channel different forms of lifebloods with Todd snagging some water straight from his apartment's tap and Arie uses water to brew his Starbucks Reserved blend coffee. Who are these people??

Whitechapel announce their new album 'Kin,' and drop a FIRE new single 'Lost Boy,' Angelmaker, Loathe, and Bring Me the Horizon are all teasing new music, there's no bad blood, only blood brothers, for Lil Nas X and Tony Hawk, Motionless in White hit the road for the first time in two years, and we get HUGE releases from Iron Maiden, Carnifex, and Foreign Pain. Will the madness ever end??

That's a rhetorical question. You'll be too scared to sleep after losing yourself with our Featured Band Carcosa blending the worlds of True Detective and H.P. Lovecraft for their track Hypnos. Time is a flat circle, hopwolves.

Turn it up to 11, crack open that beer, it's about to get BREWTAL!

    Featured Band:

This week's episode features Hypnos from Carcosa.

    Bio:

If time is a flat circle, then 2 things are true:

    1) Deathcore's return was inevitable.

    2) Andrew Baena, Johnny Ciardullo, Cooper Lagace and Travis Regnier were destined to form another band.

The quartet killed off predecessor Galactic Pegasus' djenty metalcore as their writing trended deadlier. So intense was Carcosa's devotion to death that the body was still warm when they started.

Their June 2020 unveiling and release of the 'Absent' EP 2 months later took them from disregard of to mastery over death.

Carcosa stares into the abyss—knowing everything happens in cycles but with nihilistic knowledge, everything ends. Their name, as well as the black, yellow and spiral-laden imagery, were inspired by 'True Detective.'

One could argue their lyrics and sound came from the hopeless mind of Rust Cohle. The music borders on apocalyptic but accepts the bleak end as the twin of the hopeful beginning. It’s the kind of doom-and-gloom through which The Acacia Strain and Chelsea Grin channeled their brutality, tempered with the futuristic noises of contemporaries like Brand of Sacrifice.

The lyrics on debut LP 'Anthology' don’t follow the tragic journey of their debut, but the collection renews its endless loop construction. The new release drops on the year anniversary of its predecessor (8/19) and the final track seamlessly segues to the opening of both.

Though done intentionally for 'Absent,' on 'Anthology' it happened without conscious thought; time is a flat circle, indeed.

    What Carcosa is drinking:

Andrew (guitar) and Johnny (vocals) are the only two people in the band that drink beer consistently but Johnny can say with full confidence that both of their favorite beers are 1664's Kronenbourg Blanc
