    Where Are You, Brian Reed?

    Where Are You, Brian Reed?
I don't have much to say here. What can you say, really? Captain Marvel is no longer Carol Danvers. There, I said it. What has become the parody of Carol was once what she was. Was it bad? Was it sexist? Was it off-color? I can't say. (Come on, you can tell me.) No, I mean that I don't know. (You don't know? You don't know whether her booty costume was inappropriate?) I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that she is a different character now. (Oh, because she changed her name?) She didn't change her name. (Yeah, she did! She's Captain Marvel now. Before she was Ms. Marvel.) That's not what I mean. I mean that she isn't acting like herself. (Oh, no they wouldn't do that. They already did a Skrull storyline.) That's not what I mean either! And besides, we just got done Civil War II. Don't tell me that they don't reuse storylines. (I think you're wrong. I don't think she's a Skrull.) JUST FORGET IT!!! Voltron: From the Ashes - Cullen Bunn and Blacky Shepherd

Voltron: From the Ashes - Cullen Bunn and Blacky Shepherd

Cullen Bunn (Writer) and Blacky Shepherd (Artist) join Marc to discuss the release of Voltron: From the Ashes, a new 6-issue comic book series from Dynamite Entertainment. The 1st Issue is being released on September 16th, and Cullen and Blacky tell us as much as they can without spoiling it for anyone.

Cullen and Blacky seem to have come from the same mold, despite growing up in different areas, which makes them perfect collaborators for this Voltron comic book series. We talk about their love of giant robots, Micronauts, the horror genre, and classic japanese anime, as well as the influences that have brought them to where they are today.

Obviously, you are going to get to hear more than you've ever heard before about Voltron: From the Ashes, without getting spoiled or upsetting the editors at Dynamite Entertainment. Keep this in mind: this is the same classic Voltron look, but a completely fresh take on Voltron with a new team, 200 years after the original team of Lance, Keith, Allura, Pidge and Hunk.

    Cullen Bunn

Cullen Bunn is an accomplished writer for comics, short stories, and novels. Known for his work on comic books such as Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe for Marvel Comics, and The Damned and The Sixth Gun for Oni Press, his work also includes the middle reader horror series Crooked Hills and his short story work includes the anthology collection Creeping Stones & Other Stories.

In this podcast, Cullen also mentions his current Comic for Dark Horse Comics, called Harrow County, and Blood Feud, a novella from Oni Press.

In comics, he started doing ‘Vampirella: Feary Tales’ pencils for Dynamite Comics, and is now working on Voltron: From the Ashes. This talented artist isn't stopping there. You'll be seeing more work from him in the future.

    Blacky's personal website is: http://www.cqshep.com

    On Twitter: @cqshep

We'll be talking to these guys again in a future podcast to review some of the issues of Voltron: From the Ashes, after they are released.
