    Retirement Message Part 2

    Retirement Message Part 2
My message on August 25th was to be my final 'official' message as Sr. Pastor of Calvary Bible Church. It was titles "My Farewell Message." However, due to the fact that I was asked by the Pastoral Board to speak at the AM Service today, prior to the "Farewell" Luncheon, I decided that the best way to deal with this "Limbo" situation was to present my "farewell" message in two parts. Today is part two. I also made a change in title from "Farewell" to "Retirement," seeing that I will still be "hanging out" at CBC for a while.

Why CBC Should Be A 'Seeker Sensitive' Church.'" (Col. 3)

Why CBC Should Be A 'Seeker Sensitive' Church.'" (Col. 3)
The Apostle Paul describes who a True 'seeker' really is and how we can be 'Sensitive' to and of them in the local church - and his divine perspective is quite different from those who promote the so-called ' Seeker Sensitive' movement today, which actually seeks to "stunt" the growth of the true church, rather than to mature it. Today's message reflects that of Paul's in Colossians 3 that seeks to mature the body of Christ.

Living In The Word In Light of The Word.” [ Col. 2:9-23]

Living In The Word In Light of The Word.” [ Col. 2:9-23]
The Apostle Paul continues to reveal his heart and passion for the spiritual growth of believers. Having emphasized that EVERYTHING the Christian needs with regard to knowledge and wisdom concerning our relationship with God is to be found in Jesus Christ, the Living Word, Who is fully revealed in the Written Word, the Apostle now turns to warning the believers about deceivers who seek to distort, twist and manipulate the Word to achieve their own selfish purposes. Implied within this hard-hitting discourse is the critical need for believers to know, understand and obey the Word of God. Paul follow the example of His Lord, Jesus Christ, in His strong and forceful condemnation of those who use the Word in his fashion and attempt to “turn the traditions of man into the traditions of God.” It is indeed a timely and relevant for us today as we seek to “understand the times, and as a result, know what to do.

A Pastoral Concern For The Spiritual Life Of Believers. (Col. 2)

A Pastoral Concern For The Spiritual Life Of Believers. (Col. 2)
This is a challenging, fascinating passage, to say the least. The Apostle Paul models the heart attitude of a pastor for the people to whom he ministers and underscores the vital place the proper understanding of the Word of God plays in their standing firm in the Faith In spite of the presence of false teachers and their misuse of the Bible.

The Work of the Word in the World

The Work of the Word in the World
The Apostle Paul follows up his magnificent description of the Lord Jesus Christ as the Sovereign God over all that exists in heaven and on earth with an explanation of the transforming nature of the message His Ambassadors are commissioned and empowered to proclaim throughout the world. In practical terms, he outlines for us the priority of the Word of God in bringing about the end purpose The Head of the Church has for its members.

The Church, State, Society And The Constitution

The Church, State, Society And The Constitution
Today, Pastor Lee departs from his exposition of the Book of Colossians to address an important current issue. As we celebrate our 40th Anniversary as an Independent Nation, some are demanding that we remove any reference to “Christianity” from our Constitution. In today’s message, Pastor Lee revisits his presentation to the 2000 Colloquium in which he states why he opposes such a move, from both a historical and biblical perspective. Booklets containing his presentation are available for those who desire to have a copy of the complete original presentation.

God's Answer To The Question: "Who Is Jesus Christ?

God's Answer To The Question: "Who Is Jesus Christ?
Today's message focuses on the Apostle Paul's detailed explanation as to how his prayer for believers to "increase in the knowledge of God" is answered by knowing the Word of God. We are truly "standing on holy ground" when we contemplate the high and lofty truths contained in these verses! In the words of the Apostle elsewhere: "Who is adequate for these things?" Only the One Who reveals such truths is also able to help us to comprehend them, so let us depend solely upon Him (the Holy Spirit) this morning as we together seek to increase in our knowledge of God.
