EPISODE 41: Sudan, Weddings & Ava Ft. Basma Khalifa
This week, Reg is joined by Baba, Uzo and Basma Khalifa for an episode that leans heavily into three very different subjects. The situation in Sudan and on the complete other end of the spectrum, Weddings and the TV drama, When They See Us. Given her heritage and connection to Sudan, Basma sheds light on the situation everyone on social media is talking about. The wedding conversation stretches from Uzo’s pink tie to baba’s party brownies and Reg blacking out at a wedding finishing up with a break down of Ava Duvernay’s new show on Netflix. Episode 40: The Lore

This week, Reg is joined by Baba and Uzo for an hour of the most random questions answered and Uzo channelling his inner Jamaican. There’s extreme daggering, (dancing not with weapons) social media etiquette, Reg getting lost in Amsterdam's red light district and the meaning of Philadelphia. As if you didn’t know. Get the kettle on, we’re here all week!

Episode 39: Look At My Legs

This week, Reg is joined by the full squad minus Israel. Owen drops a Trap Record, Baba shows off his new 8 pack, Anna does her culture corner thing but might miss the mark, Ankit stays silent but violent, No Selekio, but we’ve got a BIG DEE... And Uzo brings in Badman Billy for Baba to read another few pages. There’s some Long list goodness and somehow reg giggles like a child the whole time. Press play. It’s good for your ears.

    Episode 38: Thierry Vulnri

    Episode 38: Thierry Vulnri

This week, Reg is joined by Owen, Baba for a conversation that meanders from selling hoovers door to door to advice for singletons in their mid 30’s. Reg lets it all hang out as the room gets vulnerable… Or Vulnri, Thierry Vulnri. The culture corner delivers as usual even if Anna had to write her intro on her hand. The long list gets tackled with Game Of Thrones praise and rants, Othello comparisons, event TV and the potential end of it. Some of your questions get answered and the Q&A quickly becomes an advice session for Reg and every singleton listening. It all gets a bit emo from nowhere. Put on the kettle, pull up a chair, we’re here all week.

    Sexy Yet Accessible

This show has everything you expect from a video game podcast. We deep-dive the romantic comedy genre and identify those responsible for the rom-com crash (Kate Hudson and Dane Cook). We discuss the phenomenon of shipping real people (including ourselves). Rocky reveals a conspiracy theory to Brian which he doesn't have the strength for. Tegan doesn't have the strength for much. By trying to show us they're good Sony may have proven they're bad. Video games y'all.

RSR082 - Dane Myers - Custom Tracks & Online Production

Several years after founding local singer/songwriter recording studio, Wholehearted Productions, and producing numerous tracks for aspiring local artists, Dane Myers realized a big obstacle all of his artists faced in getting the quality of music they wanted was a lack of access to professional session musicians. Now after leaving university, Dane is bent on changing the way people think about recording, putting the focus on quality performances, and putting top-shelf musicians back in independent music production through Custom-Tracks.com.

ICR186: Malene Rydahl, Happy as a Dane

ICR186: Malene Rydahl, Happy as a Dane

My guest on the podcast today is Malene Rydahl, author of the international bestseller, Happy as a Dane.

For decades Denmark has ranked at the top of the world’s happiness surveys.

How is it that these 5.6 million Danes are so content when they live in a country that is dark and cold nine months of the year and where income taxes are at almost 60 percent?

In Happy as a Dane: 10 Secrets of the Happiest People in the World, Malene shares anecdotes and research, and explores how the values of trust, education, and a healthy work-life balance with purpose – to name just a few – contribute to a “happy” population.

The book became a best-seller and was awarded the prize of the most optimistic book in 2014. It has been published in Japan, Korea,Taiwan and Russia, and will come out later this year in Spain, Germany and United States.

In this episode of Informed Choice Radio, I speak to Malene about the factors that make the Danish lifestyle unique, their approach to work/life balance, how the Laws of Junte underline behaviour towards others, how gender equality contributes towards happiness, why so many Danish citizens are taking ant-depressants, how we can find a sense of purpose in life, and much more.

Welcome to Happy as a Dane with Malene Rydahl, in episode 186 of Informed Choice Radio.

    Some questions I ask:

-What factors make the Danish lifestyle unique?

-What’s the Danish approach to work/life balance like and how does this contribute to happiness?

-Can you tell us about The Laws of Junte in Nordic countries and how these laws underline behaviour towards individuals?

-To what extent do you think the Danish model of gender equality contribute to their happiness?

-As well as scoring highly on measure of happiness, Danish citizens are reported to be the highest consumers of anti-depressants in the world. How do the two things tally?

#75: No-No Words (Kurt Metzger, Keren Margolis, Ari Shaffir)

#75: No-No Words (Kurt Metzger, Keren Margolis, Ari Shaffir)

Kurt Metzger invited into his Spanish Harlem tenement where we talked about censorship of comedians. I don't know anyone who gets more upset every time the issue comes up. He gets so angry. I love it. Keren Margolis was also there and she gave her perspective as a comic who's new to the game. What we can and can't say on stage is probably the biggest hot button issue in the world of stand up.
