The boys are reunited after months of Skype separation, in the studio! This week, embracing colour after a life presenting black and whites, the difference between recipes and presets, building your own look and capturing the moment whilst being IN the moment; family pictures. Boxgate continues and Neale finds a pile of X-H1 boxes that practically match his height, we talk third party lenses, assisting the greats, whether we still need websites in this Instagram world, the catharsis of photography during Covid, getting back on the professional bike to shoot weddings after so much time out and the 70-300mm lens; do I need it? Book of the week is, 'The year the world stood still' by Chris O’sullivan and Dan Milnor talks more about self publishing to us.

We talk about workflow, what we’d like from the X-Pro4 or new XH camera, the great monochrome camera debate, Kev’s camera of the year and Flippy Screen Gate; just what is it people don’t like about the flippy screen? Book of the week is The Photographers on Photography by Henry Carroll and our guest is photographer and book self-publisher Dan Milnor.

Long projects, short projects, what's the best

As many of you know, I am an advocate of doing projects for photography. One-off images just don't excite me. Consequently, I've been listening to a few YouTube commentators [Dan Milnor, Brooks Jensen] and give you my thoughts on what approach might be best.

I suggest you follow Dan Milnor on YouTube he is extremely good and very accomplished and experienced. I have learned a lot. Also, Brooks Jensen can be found online also and he is  also very good.

#40 Publish your photography TODAY! How?

#40 Publish your photography TODAY! How?

Today's chat with Blurb Books ambassador Dan Milnor presented ideas that inspired me personally in terms of self-publishing my work and my thoughts. Gone went the, "Oh who would even be interested," concerns I usually have, to be replaced by two words; "What if?" Also, why scarcity can be so powerful. The full length edition of this interview is out Saturday 1st Aug and visit today's episode page to tell me about your book ideas.
