Interview with Dark Alternative music composer STELLA WEMBLEY

Interview with Dark Alternative music composer STELLA WEMBLEY

Leeds-based Italian-born artist Stella Wembley  began her musical career in Italy as a soprano while studying opera at the Royal Conservatory of Music "San Pietro a Majella" in Naples. Upon graduating, she found limited opportunities on the Italian music scene, she moved to London in 2017, where she found inspiration and avenues as a musician, performing at venues in Leeds, Blackpool and London. She is a  vocalist, lyricist, composer, music producer and video director.

She  released  her 'Wasting My Time' EP, a four-track release of sheer electro-goth delight surrounding the track 'Wasting My Time'.  The loop- and arpeggio-driven synth backdrop feeds a retro new-wave vibe, and the catchy chorus underlines multiple conflicting sensations from dark melancholy to fiery self-expression, while exploring the esoteric and mystical and ultimately death, rebirth and destiny.

Wembley has collaborated and performed with Lloyd Price (The Frixion), Auger, Inkubus Sukkubus, Zeitgeist Zero, Last July, Rome Burns and Machine Rox. Stella is currently working on her new album "The Alchemy of the Dark Arts'," which will feature Michael Ciravolo (a.k.a. Beauty In Chaos) on guitar.

Italian Gothic Metal Band, Vlad In Tears Latest Album Porpora

Italian Gothic Metal Band, Vlad In Tears Latest Album Porpora

The Italian gothic metal band based in Berlin, Germany, Vlad in Tears  released their latest 8th studio album called "Porpora" on Metalville Records on September 19, 2022.

The band consist of three brothers who decided to move from Italy to Germany in 2013, Kris (Lead vocalist and keyboards)  Dario (Bass) and Lex (Guitar). Their bandmate Alex joined them on drums.

Since releasing several albums since 2006. Vlad in Tears are always looking for new sounds and arrangements to perfectly blend their melodies with very dark sounds, ranging from 80’s New Wave to the hardest and most modern rock sound.

"Porpora," is a record described by Kris as their most important works so far. Written in a time of uncertainty, he explains "all the topics treated in this album are related to loneliness, sorrow, dark heavy thoughts about death, self-harm, and suicide.” They also released a cover of Kate Bush's 1985 classic "Running Up That Hill"

German Duo Junksista Releases 4th Studio Album Called OA

German Duo Junksista Releases 4th Studio Album Called OA

Junksista consist of the German duo Diana Noir and Boog. The band  formed in 2009 and has since evolved with their mighty fresh eclectic and electric mix of bursting grooves, funky guitars, deep baselines, catchy synth and sensual half sung, half spoken female vocals. They explore all forms of music ranging from 80s dance, funk to dark electro beats.

Junksista released their latest 4th studio album called OA on COP International which features some cool musical collaborations with COP label mate Yvette Winkler (Vaselyne), Lis van den Akker (Die Krupps, Grendel, Psy'Aviah), Noemi Aurora  (Helalyn Flowers) , Maria Mar (Omnimar) and Emke (Black Nail Cabaret).

"For me, the release of this album is a genuine Phoenix moment - it's all about reinvention and coming back stronger after being consumed by the flames. Nothing feels as good as being authentic, being able to release your creative force unfiltered, and that is exactly what we did with 0A. I really needed this" Diana Noir

"0A has been quite a catharsis for us, as we wanted to make this sound as bold and unfiltered as possible. I mean, we have never been accused of being one-dimensional, but I think this time we managed to incorporate every single aspect of our musical taste into our sound to turn this into the definitive Junksista experience: it’s rude, raw, still funky, and melodic at times - this stuff resonates with me deeply" Boog

Interview with Los Angeles Based Strangelove, The Depeche Mode Experience

Interview with Los Angeles Based Strangelove, The Depeche Mode Experience

It was a pleasure speaking with Los Angeles based Strangelove, the Depeche Mode Experience who are accomplished musicians consisting of Leo Luganskiy as "Ultra-Dave,"  Brent Meyer as  "Counterfeit Martin,"  Julian Shah-Tayler as "Oscar Wilder,"  James Evans as "InTheFletch" and Chris Olivas "Chris -tian O-gner."

"STRANGELOVE-The Depeche Mode Experience, a tribute band delivers a career spanning, pitch perfect “best of” concert that transports the listener through time and touches on several key points in Depeche Mode’s 40+ year career. Songs from throughout the Depeche canon are lovingly recreated; from favorites on DM’s debut Speak and Spell to the newest fare from ‘Mode’s latest- 2017’s “Spirit”. No detail of STRANGELOVE’s presentation has been overlooked. The visual presentation with stage set pieces and in-show costume changes reflect different eras of Depeche Mode’s story."

"Their reverence and devotion to Depeche Mode’s body of work has driven them to recreate every possible detail and bring the “Music To The Masses” in a concert setting that transcends a mere tribute production.  Accuracy and authenticity is a hallmark of the project, with the band employing as many authentic vintage synthesizers and samplers as possible in recreating the classic and widely varied sounds of Depeche Mode’s discography. STRANGELOVE –The Depeche Mode Experience brings a thoroughly enjoyable and staggeringly authentic DM concert to concertgoers, and connects with international audiences, wherever the group performs. "

The band continues to perform across the U.S. and will be performing throughout Australia in November 2022.

Shane Te Kawenata Bradbrook and Adrian Workman, New Zealand's post punk band, Vietnam

Shane Te Kawenata Bradbrook and Adrian Workman, New Zealand's post punk band, Vietnam

Formed in the Wellington, New Zealand suburb of Wainuiomata in late 1981 while in high school, at a time when Māori visibility in New Zealand’s punk, post-punk, and alternative music scene was rare, the young four piece VIETNAM notably featured two members of Ngāti Kahungunu: vocalist Shane Te Kawenata Bradbrook, and bassist/songwriter Adrian Workman; alongside co-founder/co-writer and guitarist PeteDransfield, and drummer Leon Reedijk. The original four piece immediately disbanded upon the release of the Vietnam EP (Jayrem Records, 1985).

Thirty years later, the eponymous EP was rediscovered by bloggers, YouTubers, and record collectors in the US and Europe, becoming widely hailed as a “lost classic” of New Zealand music.

In late 2016, Spanish label BFE Records reissued Vietnam as a full-length LP, with the addition of bonus archival live and demo tracks.

To celebrate, the original bandmates reunited for the first time since 1985 in Wellington, NZ, to play what was intended as one last show in February of 2017. A roaring success, the reunion show encouraged the band to stay together long enough to create the new album called "This Quiet Room."
