In this second installment of Jonah, we see Jonah praying a prayer in an unlikely place:  within the belly of a fish.  We know from the first chapter, Jonah's disobedience landed him here.  But even as this place has brought him to his knees, Jonah's plea is not rejected before God.  Through the 10 verses of Jonah 2, there is a Psalm-like longing and hope within Jonah.  By the end, we see he has a heart of repentance and a desire to once again be reinstated for God's call.  It's a call we experience too as we fully submit and surrender to God's will.

Psalm 18

Edwin and Andrew take on another one of the great questions from the Psalms, in fact, from Scripture in general. One of the big issues surrounding the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus is why God would make His chosen one suffer. Surely He wouldn't do that. Psalm 18 actually shows us otherwise. In fact, it shows that God was dealing with David in a very consistent way and that He always dealt with His instruments in a very similar way.

There is something always at work within us, working upon us, beneath and beyond our usual ways of working with and upon things. These workings in the deeper and darker places are not in opposition to those usual ways, nor are they dependent upon them; they benefit, nourish and encourage one another mutually and equally, enlivened and enriched through the connection they share. This connection expands throughout and beyond our particular workings to all things, each and every one, without exception, conspiring with us and on our behalf, for the sake of our awakening. Listen. Listen. 

Every sailors worst fear, but also could be Red Lobster's finest cuisine yet! A glimpse into the legend and physiology of the legendary deep-sea cryptid that's spooked people for decades, or at least until airplanes were invented. 

In this time of COVID and quarantine and shutdown, with what we took to be normal being turned on its head and flipped inside out and all about, the heightened quality and experience of existence in this in-between bardo realm is alive and present for many. A common feature seem to be seemingly insignificant people and events from the past showing up in people's dreams - not necessarily with anything of import to offer or reveal, simply showing up, as if some portals from other times and realms have been opened as a result of all that is happening. This certainly adds to the dreamlike quality of life itself these days, the boundaries and edges of the frameworks that used to hold us up and provide steady orientation softening, blurring, fading away, leading us to drift and amble along in this dreamland bardo of our world. And there's no need - and no point, really - in trying to make sense of it all, pin it down and figure it out. Instead, we can settle, lean in, and listen, listen...
