The Multi-crore projects supposed to come up in the state going to Gujarat has led to a lot of furore in Maharashtra. On Thursday Maharashtra lost another project of Tata-Airbus Defence Manufacturing project to Gujarat. This is the fourth such project that has flown out of the state and is being set up in the neighbouring state of Gujarat. While the opposition has slammed Shinde-Fadnavis govt for failing to secure the investment in the state, the BJP has blamed previous MVA govt for not doing enough to retain the projects. While the Political parties keep going back and forth on the allegations and counter allegations, new information has revealed that even Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had written to tata sons to choose the site in Maharashtra for the project. In spite of the strong recommendation by the Union Minister and one of the tall BJP leader the company chose to move the project to Gujarat. There are few more documents that have come to light too. That raise question on why was Gujarat Chosen over Maharashtra? Then we will also discuss how Maharashtra’s Loss has turned Gujarat’s gain. 

"In September 2022, when the Vedanta Foxconn semiconductor project worth 1.45 Lakh meant to set up in Maharashtra was shifted to Gujarat at the last moment, the Shinde-Fadnavis govt had assured the state that they have spoken to Prime Minister narendra Modi and he has assured the state that the state will be getting bigger project that Vedanta-Foxconn. The project if it would have come up in the state would’ve ensured 1.5 Lakh+ jobs directly and indirectly according to the state official assessment. But Maharashtra let go of it because it was promised bigger project. Now one doesn’t know about the bigger project or when the state would get it but Gujarat has got another project. And again from Maharashtra. On Thursday, it was announced that the Tata-Airbus defence manufacturing project will be set up in Gujarat. Reportedly, this project was to be set up in Maharashtra’s Nagpur. The 22,000-crore Tata-Airbus project will manufacture of 56 military transport aircraft that will replace Indian Air Force’s aging Avro fleet. With this, 4th such project that promised to generate jobs for the local youths has slipped out of the state’s hand and the opposition isn’t very happy about it. 

"A video of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde along with his deputy Devendra Fadnavis swearing an oath to not burst crackers is making rounds on the internet. The video is from an event organized by “Maharashtra Pollution CONTROL BOARD”. In the video, both CM and DCM are seen pledging to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali. “Diwali is the festival of lights, this Diwali there won’t be air pollution due to crackers,” the CM is seen pledging along with his deputy and a room full of students repeating the vow. The video comes to light amid the Delhi BJP and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party’s tussle over the ban on firecrackers in the city.

"The tussle between Neighbouring Western states of Maharashtra and Gujarat over hosting big businesses is not new. In Fact, Businesses in Maharashtra going to Gujarat has been a sensitive matter in the state both economically and politically. Modi govt and BJP has often faced the criticism from opposition over this. And Yet again, Maharashtra seems to have lost to Gujarat over a hosting a giant project. Multinational mining company Vedanta Limited has chosen Gujarat for its $20 billion semiconductor project. A joint venture with Taiwan’s Foxconn that was to create 2,00,000 jobs in the state. Now with that’s gone to Gujarat, the politics in Maharashtra is heating up.
