Our first guest grew up on his grandfather's farm, then valiantly served our country in the Airforce before returning to the states, taking a position in the corporate world. Nate Layton, whose desire to find healthy, organic food for his family found the stores lacking in non-chemically-treated, pesticide-free foods, so he made a decision to return to his roots. After re-establishing himself by raising chickens and selling eggs, Nate purchased land in Pennsylvania and began his venture in livestock farming. Now, you can hear more about his path to owning and operating Hershberger Heritage Farms, his CSA: Berger Box, and how you can purchase and have a Berger Box filled with farm-fresh, grass-fed, products shipped directly to you by tuning in! Worthy of numerous accolades, John Hearn is the new owner of the popular Swarthmore, PA restaurant: Village Vine Wine Bar & Bistro. John recently purchased Village Vine Wine Bar & Bistro from Lori Knauer and Jill Bennett Gaieski this past November, and immediately resumed lunch and dinner service--taking on the restaurant like it was business as usual. Locals knew of the change, and lucky for them-- the hard-to-please citizens of Swarthmore found John's touches to the venue and menu delightful! If you want to hear more about what John is working on to jazz up the menu and offerings--stay tuned till the end of the show! (Link: https://www.villagevineswarthmore.com)

Have a flight of some boozy 'hot' chocolate, Spiked Mint Chip, and bourbon-infused vanilla ice cream as a treat for tuning in! Owner and Founder, Melissa Taviss, tapped into her family roots when she established her business, Tipsy Scoop. She began her Tipsy Scoop as a startup, selling her alcohol-infused frozen desserts out of a pushcart at popups around the city. Today, she not only has a permanent location, she also has a cookbook, and has grown her New York-based business into a recognized brand. A brand which now offers franchise opportunities on top of shipping products nationwide. A Chef Grows in Raleigh: Ashley Christensen

A Chef Grows in Raleigh: Ashley Christensen

Macaroni au gratin is the dish that star chef Ashley Christensen might be best known for. Served at Poole's Diner in Raleigh, North Carolina, it's dialed in to perfection. Thoughtfully conceived, utterly delicious, memorable, tweaked where necessary, but never overhauled. This attention to detail that shows in every dish at this 15 year old institution is a reflection of Ashley's leadership style. Profoundly human, intensely fair, and earned over time. Listen in to hear more from one of the most talented leaders in hospitality.

Join us as we discus Walker shutting down vigilante cops taking the law into their own hands; because only he can do that. We also talk way too much about our Roundhouse Roulette end of year Boston hang at Guy Fieri's Boston Kitchen + Bar. In other words this podcast has Flavortown and Walkertown!  Proceed with caution!

    Diners, Brunch, & Cakes

    Diners, Brunch, & Cakes
On this week's Food Farms & Chefs Radio Show we took a pit stop at some of our favorite diners across the US, including the state with the most diners and the oldest running diner in the US.  After that, we visited a chic restaurant that offers elevated takes on food that you find comfort in before moving onto our final guest, who was a piece of cake to speak with--especially when every meal is best served with dessert! We began our show by discussing the history behind America's iconic diners, and then forked up some of our favorite spots!  Of course some of these beloved diners are located in close proximity to PA and South Jersey, but when you love to eat, you love to travel too!  So be sure to tune in to hear some of the lovely memories that Gene Blum and Amaris Pollock have from years of their own foodie adventures!  And what better way to celebrate something new than giving back to others in need?  Which is exactly what Chef Derek Davis of Libertine in Philadelphia is doing with the launch of their new brunch options!  During the remainder of September and throughout September, they'll be serving up delicious Bailys, Bagels, and Benedicts with a side of donations to a local LGBTQ+ organization in the neighborhood.  You can hear all about it when you tune into this week's episode, and be sure to stay till the end to hear how Chef Davis makes the scrumptious burgers that a well-known food critic and columnist loves! Lastly, we want you to have your cake and eat it too.  Which is why we brought attorney and entrepreneur, Cassandra Burnett, on the show to discuss Lizzie's Love Cakes!  Born from the love of her mother (and recipes passed down from generation to generation), Cassandra conceptualized an idea of baking cakes that her family grew up enjoying and turned it into Lizzie's Love Cakes! in 2020.  Since then Cassandra has found her sweet ending with the success and growth of her business venture, and is now branching out by offering classes at Old City Kitchen.

Episode DIRTY 30: Mods vs. Rockers

Episode DIRTY 30: Mods vs. Rockers

Hop on, loser! We're going to postwar England! Join us for one of the mildest gang fights since the episode of "Newhart" where the Hooligals rumbled with the Puffians. As thoughtfully chronicled in The Who's rock-opera-cumentary "Quadrophenia," this week we'll have a look at the Rockers, a group heavily inspired by U.S. biker culture of the 1950s, and the Mods, who were primarily about dressing real slick and ended up riding Vespas everywhere, for reasons we will get into. Brrrm Brmmmm!!!
